Heat loss Calculation for new Radiators

I want to replace some of my rads and would like an online heat loss calculator which is reasonably accurate. Any ideas which one to use?

Reclaiming Back NEFF Engineer Call out Charge

My NEFF Oven started to blow fuse when temperature knob was turned to a selected temp. Called out NEFF Engineer at £95. After checking he said he could not find fault but he could take oven apart but this could cost me as much as £300 to £400. I declined this option. A friend who is an electrician t...

Re: Is Linking Consumer Unit to Extension Consumer Unit the Best Method?

Thanks ericmark. The other suggestion I have had is to install an RCD Main switch between the new 16mm tails and the 16mm cable to the kitchen CU. Also the main electricity board fuse is 60amp. SWALEC the supplier said that because it's a small terraced house there is no need to have a bigger main f...

Is Linking Consumer Unit to Extension Consumer Unit the Best Method?

I have a small terraced house with an extension. the main house has a modern consumer unit with RCD fed from the meter tails and MCB's. The extension which has a kitchen and bathroom has its own modern CU with RCD and MCB's. This CU is fed from the main CU via 16mm cable from an MCB in the main CU. ...

Bathroom Basin Taps - Hot Water Flow to Tap has Stopped

I installed a new bathroom some years ago and installed an Ideal Standard Single Lever Pillar Tap. Because the cold water side in off the Mains [3 Bar Pressure] and the Hot is off the Gravity HW System I installed a Check Valve in the HW supply line to avoid back flow from the Mains. This was recomm...

Re: Digital Shower?

If it's of any help I have a Digital Shower made by Aqualasia and it is great. I installed it 4 years ago and so far I have had no problems with it. It's easy to install and works off a 5 amp fuse rating. I ran a new cable from the consumer unit fo it but it will work very well of a mains 13 amp soc...

Re: Hot water cylinder pipework options for DHW and digital shower

Thanks for you reply. Both my 1" tappings are at the top of the cylinder one in the middle and the other next to it. Does this change your suggestion?
I requested two top tappings just in case I needed both.

Chimney Cowl

I have just had my chimney swept and a gas fire installed by a registered gas man, all good. But because of birds on the roof I want to fit a cowl on the chimney pot, the installer could not do it for me. The chinney is a standard brick with a 10'' [250mm] Pot. I asked BG's Tech Dept for guidance as...
