Electrical Regs. Fused spur for fixed appliances?

Am I right in thinking that for a new installation appliances such as built-in fridges & freezers and large items such as fridge freezers now have to have a switched, fused spur that is within reach, rather than be connected to a socket out of sight behind them? Thanks for any replies..

Which timber size to use to support ceiling plasterboard?

I've been putting noggins in the ceilings for my barn conversion and it's a PAIN! I have three rooms and a hall in one area which have a lower floor level than the rest of the house - the ceilings are at the same level and I thought that putting a frame of timber underneath the joists to support the...

Plasterboarding a ceiling.

Shortly to start plasterbording a new build. I've done couple of rooms before but never a new ceiling. Is there any need to put battens (to secure the boards to) between the trusses and at right angles to them?
Trusses are standard distance apart. Thanks for any replies.

Fitting Wooden Windows Into Concrete Block Cavity Wall

I'm about to fit new softwood DG window frames into the apertures in a new concrete block cavity wall. Should I put a DPM around them, and are there any good fixings out there? Last time I used those long stud fixings (long, nail-like, in a plastic sheath) they were swines to use, many getting stuck...

Arrghhh, I hate TLA's !! Many thanks for the reply. What I meant to write was, 'are there any circuits which won't work on the RCCD side of a consumer unit?' Although I can't think why, I couldn't understand why those two circuits would only work on the non-RCCD side.. As I wrote, one was a very sim...

Consumer Units - RCCD Connections

I've recently installed two different split load consumer units, one in my house and one in an oubuilding conversion. Are there some circuits which cannot be connected to the RCCD side and what are they? I found that a simple lighting circuit tripped out and had to be moved to the non-RCCD side, lik...
