Joe is there a lintel above? If not fill in with timber and clad with pvc, this will be fine.Hope this helps.

David, If it has flag hinges you can wind the door over on the top hinge with an allen key,this is located in the hinge behind a small plastic round insert.If it has butt hinges you will have to re pack the glass,known as toe and heel.I hope this helps.

Drill the rivets out with a hss bit,then replace new handle with self taping screws.I hope this helps you.

I would rake out the joints between the stone using a pick hammer.Sand supplied in france is very course, so i would mix 4 parts sand to 1 cement.Wet the joints down with water before you start pointing.Force the cemet in with a pointing towel, as the cement hardens brush it with a soft brush.I hope...

I can help you, but I need to know if it's wooden windows or pvc, by your post I take it that the're wooden. What do you mean by 'original old frames and fittings?' This does not effect replacing the double glazed unit.

Yes this can be done,but the glass in the fanlight you leave in will have to be toughend.I would buy the french doors and fanlight all in one because it wont cost much more.Hope this helps.

On new roofs tingles are not nailed as dannyppp has said.But when working on old roofs the tingle is nailed to the lower batton and bent up over the slate.

I would start at the top of the wall with a lump hammer and bolster,taking a wheelbarrow load at a time.Its a lot less dusty than using a angle grinder or sledgehammer.

just a guess.Because i have seen this before,you need to take the glass out, the glazing packer is covering drainage hole on one side.hope this helps .email if you want more info.

karen,its quite easy ,but i would suggest maybe a window fitter if your not sure.Dont go to a large company they will charge you too much.there might be someone in the trade that would do it on the side.charge £50-£100.
