Hi guys and girls, My flat has a conventional hot water cylinder with immersion heaters, fed from a header tank positioned just above it in the airing cupboard. I've got a large loft, so was wondering about maybe moving the header tank. I'd be able to place it immediately above where it is now. I'm ...
I started re-fitting my kitchen a while back. Chose Dulux Rich Matt for the walls, which were generally in good condition. In places I filled the odd hole with plaster (dents, screw holes, cut-out left by old socket) It seemed to cover fairly well initially, but then started to bubble badly when it ...
The switches are all rated to 20 amps. Each heater is on it's own circuit, protected by a 16 amp breaker. Cabling is the same 2.5mm2 twin and earth used for the sockets.
All the heaters are identical in appearance, unfortunatly I don't know the ratings.
Thought I'd test my storage heaters last night as I've never used them before. They worked nicely, but I was a little shocked to find that the wall switches for two of them were very hot to touch. I've checked and both are correctly rated. The cable in the walls is also of the correct rating. Any id...
I've just redecorated the bathroom in my new flat, in an attempt to fix all the disastrous errors made by the previous owner. However, I now have a new problem. My toilet (modern push-button suite) is quite slow to drain and as a result sometimes takes a couple of flushes to clear the pan completely...
Hi Aurelia, You've mentioned the hot water cylinder, is there also a gas-fired boiler in the property? I think you may be confusing the boiler and hot water cylinder, easy mistake to make! It actually sounds very much like an all-electric system, on economy 7. Basically what that means is the hot wa...
I've just refurbished my bathroom and decided to replace the ancient fan heater with a chrome towel radiator. My flat is electric only so I've been looking at heating elements to fit a normal chrome radiator. Are these suitable for use with a single radiator, or can they only be added to a full cent...
I had this very same problem, but with a power shower with built in pump. The previous owner had run pipes across the loft floor and down into the shower in the bathroom. One of these was mains pressure cold, the other came from the hot water tank. Sadly, he had connected it to the hot water tanks v...
My girlfriend recently had her conventional boiler and cylinder replaced with a Main combi boiler. When a single tap is opened, be it hot or cold, we get good pressure. However, when hot is running and cold is also opened, the hot water flow drops to a trickle. Particularly noticable when running ho...
Brilliant, thanks for the help! The problems we're having aren't major, but the shower pressure isn't very good and baths take aaages to run. I'm also slightly worried about someone running the cold water downstairs and killing the upstairs supply and scalding someone (we're also looking at a thermo...
Hi Steve, Apologies for not including more detail, wasn't sure how much to write! The stop cock is fully opened and the cold water pressure on it's own is as good as it ever was. The hot water pressure is also good when run on it's own. The problem only comes when doing something like running a bath...
