Re: Tile first or fit fixtures?

Normally tile then fixtures. Otherwise you may have some impossible tile cutting to do and it will look messy.

ELECTRIC UNDERFLOOR HEATING

Our bathroom has newly installed electric underfloor heating. The cable is covered with 10mm porcelain tiles on quick-set adhesive. How long should we wait after completion of tiling before using the underfloor heating so as to not adversely affect the adhesive?

Thanks very much stoneyboy.

One thought, how can you then remove the beads in the future in order to replace any panels?

I have sometimes used model paint solvent which is available at most model shops and comes in small glass bottles. It may be cheaper than the industrial type solvents.

Good luck!

Double glazing bead position

We had 2 new upvc windows fitted today & I have just noticed that the glazing beads are on the outside, whereas all our other upvc windows have their beads on the inside. Our new windows are accessible from a flat roof so I feel uneasy that the glazing units could be removed from the outside. Al...

Thanks for the information. I think I'll just use a heat gun first and then Nitromors to finish.

I've never used an undercoat on our masonry and the paint seems to stick quite well.

STRIPPING PAINT OFF DOORS BY COMMERCIAL DIPPING

We have several pine doors in our 1930's house which need stripping before repainting. We could have them stripped by either acid or caustic soda bath, but have heard that this can leave loose joints.

Can anybody advise if this type of stripping can cause problems for our type of doors?

Thanks for the advice plumbbob.

Actually Plumbworld only sold me the shower, they didn't install it. So I guess, under the Sale of Goods Act, I should ask them to sort it out first.

Thanks for your continued interest. Our shower is about 4 months old but was only installed recently. I will now try Plumbworld first, as they sold me the shower. I certainly wouldn't risk having to pay for an engineer's time, especially as they are all probably primed to deny any faults? It would b...

Hi acsimpson, We don't get the same pressure build-up problem but I have noticed that when we first turn on the shower (ie.the first 1/4 position) there is a short burst of water for a few seconds, then no flow. We then have to go to 1/2 position to get a flow again, but turning it any more gives th...
