Rated fire door on loft conversion

I'm in the middle of my loft conversion, which will be a bedroom. I need to fit and Fd30 fire door. The wall config and door opening position, the door will open out onto the top landing, but won't have the 400mm clearance from the top step. I plan to fit 2 x 15" doors, routed on one edge where...

Re: How to Remove a Totally Concealed Toilet Seat

There's normally 2 rubber seals on the screws, as it tightens it squashes the rubber providing the seal and fixing to the toilet pan.

If you undo the screws, don't undo fully/remove the screw. You'll find the seat getting looser.

Re: How to Remove Magna Clean Filter Cap?

Probably better to remove it from the valves, get it into a better position and you won't damage the pipe/valves. Worst case scenario, fit a new filter to the existing valves.

Re: What Pipework to use for Installing new Overflow for Expansion Tank

It depends on your setup. But the pipe outside is normally minimal, 4-5inches.

If you need to run 3m of pipework externally, copper will look better as the plastic will bend if it ever does fill with water.

Re: Hot Water and Pressure Drop Issues With 1 Year old Combi Boiler

There can be a few reasons why the pressure will drop, one is a leak on the system: When the boiler is in use, the pressure will rise, but should not reach 3bar. If the pressure rises above 3 bar, it is likely to be a faulty expansion vessel, which needs recharging or replacing. Once it goes above 3...

Re: Unusually High Water Metre Reading

Get your supplier to check meter and check for leaks.

Unless new to the property or there's been building work carried out, its unlikely that you're paying for the neighbours water.

More likely to be a leak, between the meter and the house.

Re: Fitting an External Expansion Vessel to a Vaillant Boiler

Google the boiler, it'll tell you the expansion vessel size. A good rule of thumb is 1l per radiator.

Tee into the return, close to the boiler and connect vessel.

Re: Connecting up Washing Machine, Dish Washer and Boiler Waste

If you have the room for 2, that's the better option.

The condensate pipe needs to be connected downstream of the trap, as the condensate can become the flue, if there was an issue with the boiler, if fitted upstream the fumes could enter your home

For that type of business, you're going to need some kind of stored water, tanks with immersion or similar.

Or an electric shower.

Probably the water fill valve in the toilet, similar to the ballvalve that's been changed in the tank.

Re: New Heating System Utilising Solar

Solar PV has nothing to do with the heating, unless you fit immersion to get maximum use of the free energy. Solar Thermal needs glycol filles solar panels, solar pump station and a solar compatible cylinder, the cylinder will have connections for 2 or 3 heat sources, boiler, solar panels, wood burn...

Re: Improving Central Heating Control Setup

It depends on the system pipework setup rather than the wiring, if a gravity system you cannot have any valves on the primary circuit. Most sealed systems will have built in bypass or bypass valves, so pipework and valve configuration can be altered to suit what you're trying to achieve, using 2 por...

Re: Bosch Junior 28i Compatibility With Salus Wireless Receiver

Shouldn't be an issue, a boiler needs an electrical supply and the programmer is just an on/off switch. Unless they have some obscure internal controls, which can be linked out, any programmer will work. The only issue is if you buy a single or twin channel, as a combi only needs a programmer for he...
