Dark grey is a hard colour to cover, Its not impossible but should need a few coats. It could also be a high priced job if it requires an element of danger ie up a ladder in an awkward possition. Unless you are prepared to hire a scaffold.

As above if you had a sponge for 2 year and never used it it would still draw in water. As an example.

I would just fill the large crack's but i would then line the walls as the cracks will come back so the lining paper will keep them out of sight for a while.

Re: Another question about painting a bathroom

1) Will the matt paint adhere to the slightly shiny wall if it is not rubbed down? A. No it will however need a few solid coats. 2) If I use a 'soft sheen' kitchen/bathroom paint instead, can I just apply it onto the wall after wiping down with sugar soap? A. Yes, No real need to whipe the walls unl...

Honestly never seen any house sprayed before. Internly. All you need is a roller and some contract emulsion thinned up more like water. No need for getting a Painter in unless you wish for them to leave the job as complete as it would just be a waste of time.

I would just scrape al the loose paint flakes off and line the walls. What ever filling showes through will be face filled.

Even water based paint is thick. It should be runny. You are only supposed to use a very little amount of gloss. If you are no good at glossing get the 1 coat stuff which is more like jelly.

If its just the blob of plaster at the bottom just scrape it away. untill its even then fit your skirting. Fill the gap at the top with decorators caulk and your done.

As said why would you plaster a full wall just because of nail holes?
Also why would you have to use sand and cement on your internal walls?

Multi finish is what 99.9% of plasterers would use to finish a wall

Re: DULUX paint

So relieved to find the wathdog thread and this one, before I went completely mad trying to trace the horrible decaying cheesy smell that appeared in our kitchen just after the current warm spell started. The Kitchen faces west so gets a lot of sun later in the day and gets quite hot. A professiona...

The plaster smell should go away after painting. My question would be. After plastering was the heating on to dry it out? were there de humidifiers in the house. Was the house freezing bellow 0. All these could make the plaster crack. Plaster has driers so if its forced to dry too quickly it will cr...

Name and shame the plasterer. Sounds as if he hasent polished it. Has he actually finished plastering or did he just bond it out and is coming back.

If its multi finish he has used and its blistered then it might not have been glued on. Give it a good sand and fill it with easy fill.

Pvc cant be painted it will eventually flake and fall off. Try using turps / white spirit. If that doesnt work use a very very little nitro moers using gloves and a cheap brush. but wash it off after a few seconds, try only to get it on the painted area and not the door.
