you could use a water level, it will robably be easier especialy if its a big room, and more acurate , or lazer level

have you though about but jointing with the designed but joint metal strip ? you can get flat to round or round to round , silicone and screw to stop the wet getting in , not the best way but easy and cheap.

try peeling some onions and put them in a bowl of water place inside for a few days, worth a try b 4 doing anything drastic

Hi, personaly I would rip off the lath and plaster( makes hell of a mess) and run wires and put the back box in and insulate it and plaster board it and skim it (plaster) or at the very least flush sockets ets not surface mount , my personal preference

thank you ericmark , not sure i am any the wiser , lots to get ones head around , not like the old days, I was hoping the electric supplyer would check before they turned the supply back on and that would be good enough, i asumed they would not reconect if it wasnt to standard ?

Have you checked their is supply getting to them ? try the mcb or fuse , put a test on to see if the feed wire is live , best of all if you can aford it get a qualified electrician in

Thank you ericmark , my thoughts were if it holds up the sale or puts people off the purchase, it could be money worth spending, like most things i guess its a bit of a gamble , you pays your monney and takes your chance.

can anyone tell me the regs relating to consumer units, i have a couple of old rewirable ones and a rcd protected one , i want to get another rcd and do away with the rewirable , is their a maximum amount of fuse ratings or can you put how many you like in as long as the load does not exeed the box ...
