hi this weekend the floor is going to be laid, someone mentioned a dab of glue in the groove at both ends to keep them from spliting. what u reckon brickie?? sound ok??

ive recently replaced all my floor boards down stairs with a 18mm chipboard floor, i have now found the solid wood that i like and have mixed responses on how to fit it.....been told not to nail as chipboard is weak.....not to glue coz floor will want to move naturally....so i thought of maybe just ...

Cheers bricky, I read last night on some building regs page that I should silicone around the joist where it has contact with the brick?? Would ur method of using dpc eliminate this?? Thanks buddy

Hi, I'm replacing joists down stairs as they are all rotten from damp. The damp is now cured and my new tantalised joists are been put in place, should I just sit the new joists on slate as they were before or run a timber around the perimeter and hAng new joists on joist hangers?? Not stepping welshbrickies toes (he is very knowledgable), but how old is the render?, mastic is ok , but have a, look, I mean give it a tap if it sounds hollow then its blown , and will need removing, if not then there are epoxy repair kits that will do the job better then mastic i tapped the wall...

theres no damp course only engineering brick?? should i inject the wall and make new damp course?? also the water is causing the motar to deteriorate and u can wipe it out with ur finger. should i re point??? also i have serious amounts ofd white salts all over the brick. should i clean this off??? ...

check the roof for leaks and also check the pointing on the outside, it might need re pointing. i had to use a damp proof membrane to stop damp in my house. its old and needed insulating anyway. so i used dpm on wall then 2x1 batterns with celotex inbetween and then plasterboarded over the top. then...

high water table cominin under floor boards

ive recently broughgt my first house and have discovered that there is a high watwer tablle here resulting in water under my floorboards. does anyone have any ideas how to water proof my house to stop it comin inside again, ive thought about a dpm and concrete??

water under floor boards!?!?!?!?

hi i own a house thats 90 years old and downstairs my floor boards are approx 4ft from foundation level. i keep getting water in at about 5 to 6 inches. i think this may be because of the water table level?? im not sure?? anyways would it matter if i just concreted it up to about a foot to stop this...
