Sorry bit late in replying, you might have done the job by now, cut off blown render, and re-render, coat the wall and were it joins to old render with a pva, i'd trowel it to a flat finish, good luck as once you start taking off blown render it sometimes goes on and on

Not stepping welshbrickies toes (he is very knowledgable), but how old is the render?, mastic is ok , but have a, look, I mean give it a tap if it sounds hollow then its blown , and will need removing, if not then there are epoxy repair kits that will do the job better then mastic

Hi and thanks for the reply, I did manage to cut it even surprised myself, I used my 9'' disc cutter with stone disc, it took me 35mins each cut normal worktop, 2ft wide and an inch thick, the disc cost 78p each and it took 2 disc for each cut, then I polished the edgs with a band sander, all in all...

I think you might find it hard to get the same tape, but try these Shand Higson..or Rajapack, they do paper tape for packing, Knauf, do it for dry linning, and plaster boards, which are completly different,

There is a firm on the net that doe's the reinforced pape tape, Rajar, still looks like a prefab style ceiling to me they did build prefab houses and terraces...I live in one built in the 60's but have replaced all my ceilings, as I said hard borad a major fire risk

as stoneboy says, but I would cut the joints out first, fill them, then scrim and re-plaster
