Re: Door Closer

I would contact Dorma or Laidlaw, have a look on their websites, they have loads of data. They will be able to advise you as to the type of closer required.

Re: asbestos cement roof

Yeah it's dust from asbestos that causes respiratory problems. Generally it's OK if undisturbed.
Don't under any circumstances move it yourself, contact an asbestos specialist.

Re: Zinc Covering to Porch Roof

Hi,

You should be able to find loads of roofing suppliers on the internet that will stock this kind of thing.

Google roofing suppliers and send them an email through the 'contact us' page.

Sounds like a standard thickness of precoated sheet to me.

Re: Someone building something mad opposite me!

Agree, contact the planning office at the local council. Proper planning permission should have been applied for for such a major alteration. Small modifications can be made, within strict criteria. This sounds like it's well outside those bounds. They should have applied for planning permission, in...

Re: Fixing a gurgling sink

That looks like an extremely long pipe for a sink. I'm no expert, but I don't think that they are normally that long. Normally they connect into the main waste pipe much nearer to the sink.

I could be wrong.

Possibly because it is so log, it is dragging a lot of air in when it empties.

Re: Do they still make larger wc pans. (Like the old ones)

Yes,

I would have a browze around DIY store websites etc. see what you can find, plumb centres etc. They are normally very helpful in these places.

Failing that a reclaimation yard may have an old style toilet.

Re: Concrete posts wobbling

The posts should not move. This is bad workmanship...probably to do with the concrete not setting properly. Get them back to fix the problem.

Re: Bad odour coming from drains

Hi,

Well if the water isn't backing up there isn't a blockage, so shouldn't need DynoRod

Can you ascertain if the smell is coming back up the pipe or from outside somewhere?

Normally there is U-bends creating air locks in the pipes - preventing smells from coming up the pipes.

Re: Blocked outside drain

Yes,

Definitely shouldn't be flushing this type of stuff. These blockages are normally solved by rodding the drain.

Really you can't dissolve this sort of material with chemicals.

It may be worth investigating the condition of the drain, if these items are getting caught up somewhere.
