Hi bought some shock arrestors (1/2 inch BSP x 6 inch long). Fitted in the system as per the instruction.Eleviated most of the hammer but the plastic pipe still moved at the fittings. Stripped it all out and replaced with copper. Now ok. I will ring Polypipe and see what they say.

Hi, I have added a small bathroom and get knocking for a couple of secs when the taps are closed (lever action mixer on bath and sink). The hot water although low pressure and low flow is the worse. Hi, I am a Mechanical Engineer not a plumber who may have a special adaptor. 15mm compression to 1/2 male BSP fitting. What you do next depends on the fitting on the delivery side of your pump. There is an adaptor available 1/2 NB lead to 25mm MDPE. I would only recommed it as a temorary fix. Why not do the job correctly and have the new plastic pipe connected direct to the service main.
