Shower Silconing - 2 Questions

maybe not the right place for this 1) I have small hole in the silcone in the corner of my shower tray. I know from past experience that its not always best to try and silicone on top of other sealant already in place, but I also don't want to pull it all up and reseal from scratch for the sake of a...

Plastering Repair job showing through the Paint

Hi I had a repair job done on a hole in the ceiling (water escape, insurance repair). Anyway hole was repaired, plastered over and then repainted 6 months on, the original hole shape, like a large 'U' Shape is now showing through the paintwork in a sort of browny plaster colour. I can see no evidenc...

Thanks

I've taken the caps off all the radiators and can't see anything obvious. We have obvious signs of leaks from the ceiling and the downstairs pipework is under the flooring. Which I suspect is going to be a big job to check

Are Vent points the same place I bleed the rad from?

Boiler pressure

I've got an historic problem with my glow worm boiler losing pressure quite regularly and needing to be re-pressuriused manually. I've had a the boiler serviced, the pressure release valve cleaned and then replaced All, fingers crossed, looks ok at present, but if its not, am I right in guessing it ...

Shower Tray sealing

I'm hoping for any tips or advice please I've recently retiled a shower and because the tray is cemented I am left with a gap between the tray and the tiles of about 1cm wide by the height of the tray, 3-4cm? It was originally siliconed completely, so my question is, is there a better or more suitab...

Cracked Pane in Double Glazed

Hi I have an upstairs double glazed unit where the internal pane has cracked the entire width I'm led to believe this is relatively common and something to do with expansion My insurance company tell this is wear and tear and not covered - (I was waiting to hear if in fact it was the wrong sort of g...

Central Heating and a Mega Flo

Hi I have a Glow Worm 30Si boiler and a Mega Flo unvented system. All seems to be ok generally with the water and the heating, but the boiler loses pressure over a few weeks and goes from about 1 bar to 0.5 bar. There are no obvious leaks from the radiators or around the house. I have noticed there ...

Glow Worm 30si issue

Hi I've just moved to a new property with a Glow worm 30Si boiler, a mega flow storgae tank and a drayton (LP112) control The problem I have is that the timer is set and the lights come on indicating that 'the boiler is on' but we get no hot water The Si has an inbuilt heating thermostat that is set...

do I need a plumber for this?

I am not one and would not even know where to start checking the filter.

How do you adjust the water pressure to the bathrooms?

Loft Conversion Shower

I've recently purchased a new property with a loft conversion with bathroom The shower in the loft is very low pressured. My current property has a megaflo which provides excellent main pressure. The new property has what looks like this set up, boiler and a megaflo tank downstairs and no water tank...

Replacing Radiators

I've got a few annoyingly placed horizontal rads and I'd like to know how straight forward or easy it is to replace them with vertical ones. Does it present any major problems, do you suffer with the heating? Secondly, I need to add a rad or two to a loft conversion, should it be a straightforward j...

Hi thanks for the reply. Upon further investigation, there is definitely no leak from the trap or the waste pipes. I think I've identified that the sealant used from the tray to the tile wall is loose and coming away. I cannot get access to the back underneath to check how deep or wide the issue is ...

Mystery Leak

I have a leak that materialises into my middle floor bathroom, through a 'pull string' liht switch of all things. Directly above the light rose would be my upstairs en suite. The water leak is quite bad now, but only happens after the shower in the en suite is used. Access to under the shower tray i...
