Aks,
For this i would definaitly get a CORGI engineer in as you will still be breaking the law by installing a gas supply as you need to pass the ccn1 to fit gas carcase and know how to test the extened pipework,please don't attempt to do it yourself.

go for solvent weld but before you glue put the pipe work together to ensure you have the correct run,mark the pipe and fitting,take apart and glue,joining the lines up on the pipe and fitting.

let us know what type of system you have,F&E (tank in loft) and cylinder in the cupboard or Combi System fed from mains water and no tank.this should help us out

Fiona b4 you fill the tank fit a new float valve to the tank to stop it overflowing then if you have an outside mtap then you could fill it from that using the hose fitting,if the hose wont fi over the tap outlets,let me know how you get on and if ou have any more probs let me know if you live near ...
