Wood filler for doors

Hi Guys My daughter lives in a 1920 mid terrace, and its retained some nice features including glass panelled doors. Problem I have, is that the area around the handles/locks, have been filled in a few times, and are looking messy, AND are not receiving screws for handles very well. I would like to ...

Re: Colour of Pointing Mortar of Gable End Mortar Joints

The lime certainly altered the colour, it came out almost white, yet I did a 1x1x4. And the brick acid was a disappointment, and I think the reason was, instead of any mortar left on bricks being easy to wipe off like on common, my bricks have a serrated grooving pattern, so it was hard, and I tried...

Welsh brickie

So does the lime sort of take over what the 3in 1 or 4 in 1 colour would be ?

I certainly will buy some, also brick acid as I have heard both mentioned a lot on forum.

Normal safety precautions I assume with the brick acid?

Colour of Pointing Mortar of Gable End Mortar Joints

Hi Guys My gable end bricks are lacking mortar in some areas, I think due to prevailing winds, and living 1/2 mile from the sea. Being 72 but reasonably fit, I try to do what I can to save money, so decided to re-point to do so. Trouble I am having, is matching up the mortar colour, I start using 3 ...

Re: Plasterboard to plasterboard?

Can I use some finish that I have to do what you suggest, and would that be emulsion?

Plasterboard to plasterboard?

Hi There Am trying to tidy up an area under daughters stairs, which has been done previously with plasterboard. As there are screwholes, small holes, marks etc, I thought the easiest way for a novice would be to stick a thin gauge plasterboard. A. How does this sound to you guys. B. should I use sil...

Cutting glass mosaic tiles

Hi Guys

I have just tiled an area for my daughter, using glass mosaic on webbing.

Also used the edging tiles in same colour, they are glass also, about 10" long but I need to cut two of them to fit a space.

I don't have a tile cutter, so is there any type of saw that would do the job.

How to clean clear silicone

Hi There

I have just applied clear silicone around my daughters hob, sink, and upstanding on WORKTOP.

I made the mistake of cutting the nozzle too far so result being, too much was applied, and it went either side of intended area.

Any advice to clean up/remove any excess silicone please.

Fixing a contiboard shelf

Hi There

I am hoping to attach a small shelf of contiboard to a cement window ledge.

I was hoping that " no more nails would do" , I have scored the board underneath where it meets the concrete, do you think that will work.
