Boiler problem

I've got a Halstead Quattro boiler. When switched on I can hear the boiler go on standby. The problem I have is that the it will only heat up, if i physically tap the bottom of the boiler. Boiler problem

The overheat reset button which should have been accessible from the top of the boiler was broken so it had to be opened up to reset.
