Re: Hole Under Bathroom Sink Leaking - What Does This Hole do?

Assuming that's the back corner of the underside, it looks like either a moulding hole that has no use other than during the manufacturing process, or possibly an alternative fixing hole for a bracket. The only channel that water should run through in a basin is the overflow hole, which runs into th...

Re: Breathable Membrane for Garden Shed Insulation - Shiplap on a Wood Frame

Yes. The membrane will allow moisture in the form of water vapour to escape from inside the building, avoiding a buildup of condensation. Kingspan explain it well on their website, google Kingspan breathable membrane for a full explanation.

Re: Corrugated tin roof - should I insulate new square form tin roof?

I would leave it - you may actually create more problems by reducing airflow, which could potentially cause a build up of condensation.

Re: Should I Insulating a Copper LPG Gas Pipe?

Insulating Pipework in the house is always a good idea, as regardless of what service runs through it you are adding an additional layer of protection against accidental impact damage.

Re: Moving Kitchen - Drainage issues as no Drainage Available Under Driveway

Hi Dave You could run the waste pipe clipped to the wall. Use ABS Solvent Weld Pipe and fittings so that it won't come apart if knocked. Make sure you use anti-syphon traps on the kitchen appliances to prevent the trap seal being drawn out by the long run. You don't say how far the pipe run is, but ...

Re: Toilet keeps running (modern flush) - how can I repair this?

Assuming the water level in the cistern hasn't changed (you can tell by the water mark on the cistern) you need a new syphon kit - you should be able to get one fairly easily from a DIY store or bathroom centre. If the water level is up high, the ballvalve is letting by - it needs re-washering or re...

Re: Hot Water to Showers not Working After Changing Taps

Sounds like you have an airlock. Assuming there is no bleed valve on the pump, first thing to try is switch off the power to the pump, then run the showers (one at a time) normally without the pump for a couple of minutes. This might clear it. If it doesn't, try connecting a hose between the hot and...

Re: Best Methods for Removing and Replacing Fascias

I would replace them with PVC, then you wont have maintenance issues in the future. You can actually get the Ogee pattern that your existing fascias have in PVC, so they will look very similar.

Re: Question Regarding Under Felt Plastic Gutter Trays and Damp Proof Membrane

Hi
Yes, plastic eaves felt support trays are the answer. Easier to fit than felt too. There are two types, and you want the refurbishment one. I recommend the manthorpe G1281. Not sure if I can post a link, but this is the ideal product - http://www.guttersupplies.co.uk/product ... -1573.aspx

Re: Sudden Low Cold Water Pressure to Taps, Toilet, Bath - Any Ideas?

Hi The first thing I would check is the outlet pipe at the bottom of the cold water storage tank - there is possibility that some scale or debris is blocking the opening. Gently probe the opening inside the tank with a piece of wire (a metal coat hanger is ideal). If that doesn't work we can move on ...

Re: Chaple Mono Block Kitchen Taps - Still loose and Moving After Tightening?

Hi Nigel Your understanding of how the tap works is correct - the tightness of the fixing on the underside has no bearing on how hard or easy it is to swivel the neck of the mixer. Regarding the fixing, there should be a washer between the bottom of the tap and the ceramic surface that came with the...
