Re: Moving socket after radiator install

Thanks for the reply. If it’s better to leave it then we’re happy to just do that. The socket is the only one on that side of the room, on the ground floor in an external brick wall. I guess our question was whether an electrician would need access to the socket if we wanted one added nearby on the ...

Moving socket after radiator install

We’re moving a radiator to an outside (solid brick) wall. There’s currently a mains socket directly in the middle of the spot we’ve chosen. Our heating engineer is booked to install the rad next week. We’ve struggled to find someone to move the socket before the rad’s installed so we’re now looking ...

Re: Confused by kitchen tap fitting!

Thanks! That’s perfect. One thing I forgot to mention is that there is just a flat metal disc inside the connector - see first pic. There’s no washer of any kind.

Will I need to buy a fibre or rubber washer to seal the connection inside?

Thanks again!

Confused by kitchen tap fitting!

We’ve just bought a kitchen mixer tap on eBay that already has flexible connectors attached. These appear to run inside the body of the tap and can’t be removed. The end is a female threaded cap - pictured. We’re trying to connect this to a 15mm copper pipe but can’t find the correct fitting. Can an...

Another leaky basin waste...

This may be an easy problem but I still can’t fix it! I have a bathroom basin with a metal bottle trap. I lost the original washer/gasket that seals the connection between the bottle trap and the metal threaded end of the plug below the sink. I’ve tried replacing it with this rubber washer which app...

Finding replacement shower ventilator lamp

Hi, we’re trying to find a replacement MR16 lamp for a ventilator above a shower with a built in down light. The transformer doesn’t support low power LED lamps so it has to be 20w or greater. We’re not sure what the correct IP rating for this lamp would be and, in any case, can’t find any non-LED l...

Re: Sealant Between Wood Worktop and Glass Splashback

Thanks. How about an oil based mastic like this?

http://www.sealantsandtoolsdirect.co.uk ... 24843.html

The largest gap I need to fill is about 2-3mm. It says I only forms a skin rather than completely drying.

Have you got any experience of this?

Thanks!

Nick

Sealant Between Wood Worktop and Glass Splashback

Hi there, I'm fitting a wooden worktop in my new (ex-display) kitchen. The kitchen came with an mdf board that was the splashback - fronted with a plastic coating (it looks like a plain laminate worktop). I'm using this but I'm adding a glass splashback panel to go behind the hob. The worktop is oil...

Great. Thank you!

We were worried that there's a safety regulation or issues that we weren't aware of.

Fitting appliances below boiler in kitchen cabinet

Hi, I've recently had a new combo boiler fitted in a kitchen cabinet. It's fitted at the very top of a tall unit, with pipe work running straight down to skirting level. We're now looking at replacing our cooker in the kitchen and have thought about using the space in the tall unit below the boiler ...

Re: VERY POOR BROADBAND SPEED

Hi, I'd agree with collectors - put everything back as best you can and call your ISP. You could potentially test with an alternate PC to discount it being an issue but I'd say it's more likely to be a problem on the line or the equipment they've supplied. Keep a log of your broadband speeds and mak...
