Which way to hang a hanging barsket bracket

Which way to hang a hanging basket bracket I am hanging a traditional handing basket bracket. I notice that some people put them up with the section to hang the basket at the bottom. I also notice the others put them up with the section to hand the basket at the top. Which is the preferred way of do...

Beko fridge leaking on floor

My freestanding Beko fridge keeps leaking onto the floor.

I often come downstairs and find a pool of water coming from under it.

Its not coming from inside the fridge as there is no water when you open the fridge

Any ideas what I should look for

Soakaways

When my house was built the rainwater empties into a 'soakaway' under the lawn. I am now digging up the lawn so that I have some garden beds.

Does anyone know how deep under the surface the soakway is - will it matter if I make a bed above it

How to attach wire mesh to woodern fence

I have some climbing plants and have purchased some mesh for them to climb up.

I would like to attach this to one of my wooden fence panels but can't work out the best way to secure the wire mesh to the panel. Any ideas?

Climbing plant flowering

can someone recommend me a good climbing plant. Want to have it climb up my wooden fence, rather have one that clings to the fence rather than putting trellis up. The fence is in back garden, faces south. Gets sun. Clay soil. Wife would like something that flowers in the summer and winter. We are no...

Ceiling Pendent Light in Bathroom and Plastic Coming Away

In our bathroom we have a ceiling pendent light where the plastic around the light fitting is coming away (it's around 30 years old) and needs replacing. My immediate thought was to replace the fitting but my thought turned to the IEE regulations. It's outside the various zones - but is there any ru...

Shower Pole Needs Replacing but 600cm Between Fixtures

Hi, this morning my son broke the fitting which the shower head goes into. I looked at replacing it but the "pole" is flat rather then round - this means that most replacements won't work. There's no details of manufacturer on the reverse. So I thought - replace the pole - but it's 60cm be...

Problem With 12V MR16 Downlighter

One of our MR16 12v dowlighter's has developed a problem. when it is 'free' of the light fitting it works - as soon as you push it into the ceiling it stops working. I think the cable in the roof has become damaged. If I want to replace the MR16 fitting do I need to notify the building regulation au...

Led Strip Light Flashes for one Second After Switch off

I replaced a florescent strip light for a led one.
In an intermittent basis there is a problem when you turn it off. It goes off and then after a second flashes once.

It's on the lighting circuit but is the only one in the study operated by a single switch

That's brilliant. But where do they sell the mounting box. I've looked and can't see any

Re: Adding two new 13a sockets to ring main

To extend a ring final step one is measure the loop impedance to see how close to the limits it is already, the modern MCB is two devices in one, and if you exceed the limit then the magnet part may fail to work. So disconnection time can jump from 0.01 seconds to 30 seconds by just adding an extra...

Adding two new 13a sockets to ring main

I have a electric socket which is recessed into the wall. I want to add two new 13a sockets, which means I need to extend the ring main. I thought I would remove the existing socket, add a junction box at that point, and then surface mount the new sockets. The problems I am hitting are:- i. Junction...
