Boiler pressure gauge

Hi. The one inch dia pressure gauge on my Worcester Bosch Greenstar boiler moves from zero to four and all points in between when you tap it. Is this a common problem. I see in the spare parts list in the manual it is available to purchase. Is it an easy fit or should I get a plumber to do it. Thanks.

Creaking chipboard floor

Hi. I've got a very noisy creaking nailed chipboard floor upstairs. You stand at one end of the room and it creaks at the other end. I intend to take it up and glue and screw it back down. I have purchased some expanding chipboard glue. Any advice/tips on the best way to use the glue.

Acrylic panels adhesive

Hi can anyone recommend an adhesive for securing acrylic panels to existing tiles in a bathroom. The stuff the supplier was selling was £8 per cartridge. Bit expensive I thought. Must be cheaper at Screwfix. Thanks.

Telephone Sockets

Hi. Virgin Media are soon to convert the phones in our area to their fibre network. They have sent a small 6inch adapter cable with a male end to fit into our Virgin wifi hub and the phone fits into the other end. Many years ago I wired extension sockets all over the house but Virgin say these will ...

Red Button on tv

Hi couldn't really find which topic to put this in but thought as it's so simple (unless you are stupid like me) this would catch most of you. Tried to watch a cup game on BBC1 today that was on the red button. On the menu it only had 2 choices, BBC1 or a Bristol match, not the Carlisle game I wante...

Rental Property Test Certificate

Hi I own a rented flat which will shortly be vacated so will get be an ideal time to get it tested to comply with the new legislation. I served my time as an electrician and did 5 years in a contracting environment but moved onto other things so obviously I'm not qualified to do it. It's an ex Counc...

Priming old Tiles Before Tiling Over Them?

Hi, I am going to my son's house for a weekend to retile part of his bathroom. As it's a couple of hundred miles away I don't really have the time to take the old tiles off. Is it necessary to prime the surface of the old tiles and if so could someone recommend a product. Think there is about 4 sq y...

Cold Living Room Radiator Even After Bleeding

Hi, the living room radiator in my son's house is not getting warm. He says he has tried bleading it and no air, just water came out. The feed pipe is warm up to a couple of yds from the radiator but then gets cold before it reaches it. Unfortunately he lives a couple of hundred miles away so I have...

Rain Leaking in to Loft Space Through Roof by Soilpipe

Hi rain is leaking into my loft space around the soil pipe where it exits the pitched roof of my house. It is particularly noticable during heavy rain. I'm no builder but a not bad DIYer. I have taken the concrete tiles off from around the pipe and the lead slate appears good. I have bent the back o...

Removing UPVC Door Handles With no Screws Holding Plate on

Hi, the UPVC handles on my front door are loose. I've looked on You tube and there are plenty of clips but they all have 2 screws holding the plate on. Mine has none front or back. How do they come off. The handles and the whole plate also containing the lock are loose. Thanks
