Re: Front Door Latch Lock Jammed Shut Whilst Turning Handle

It sounds to me like there has been a breakage on the latch retractor inside the lockscase or that the screws on the backplate ( to the inside of the lock) have come loose.Disassemble and see. Or replace like for like is easy enough and not expensive. You can keep your cylinder if you replace to sav...

Re: Yale PBS1 Nightlatch and Staying Retracted Inside the Lock

Paul , those locks need the keep to be adjusted quite loosely to prevent difficulty turning the key. They are such chunky locks that people with weakness in the hand and wrist sometimes find them very difficult to use.

kind regards

Re: Euro Barrel Lock Turning all way Round but not Locking Patio Door?

You will need to remove the euro cylinder in order to eliminate that as the problem. If the euro cylinder is operating outside the door you'll then know that it's a fault in the centre case of the locking mechanism (gearbox) Most gearboxes can be replaced but a few cannot be so an entire new mechani...

Re: Cannot get Replacement Patio Door Handle

e bay have plenty.Nobody uses inches these days . You are looking for 200mm screw centres. You also need to check that the distance between the spindle and the centre of the euro cylinder is 92mm which is the most common. That's referred to sometimes as 92pz. Hope that helps.

Re: Removing UPVC Door Handles With no Screws Holding Plate on

Hi Barry, they are quite unusual. Have you looked to see if there are any grub screws securing the handles to the spindle? I still think that the only possibility is that the screws are concealed behind a removable backplate.

Re: Window Handle on Double Glazed Window Fell off the Mounting Bracket

This probably means that the thread which the bolts fit into has gone. You can refit using self tapping screws slightly wider than the threaded holes or better still buy uPVC repair screws.

Re: Failed Security Bolt on French Window

There may be some slight marking . It depends how tight the door is fitting the frame. If you can see the bolt going across from the inside and use the thinnest disc you can find it shouldn't be too bad.

Re: Removing UPVC Door Handles With no Screws Holding Plate on

The screws are covered by a backplate on the handles. You need to lever those covers off taking care not to mark the door . Then you'll see the screws on the inside of the door which need tightening. To tighten up the actual lock fitting , remove the faceplate and you'll see 2 screws to tighten whic...

Re: Fitting new Walk in Cupboard Door Handle With Lock

The handle with a keyhole will fit directly in place of the old ones. It'll be longer on the backplate that's all. Handles are available in screwfix or Toolstation as ia the 3 lever mortice lock which you will of course need to fit too.

Re: UPVC Glazed Door Multi Lock Handle not Going all the way up

Oh dear you did get into a pickle! If the door works when open , ie the handle lifts and the key turns , then the problem is of alignment between the door and lock strikes on the frame. Often the doors drop and this causes the problem locking. You have undone the screws which hold the hook/bolt case...

Re: Failed Security Bolt on French Window

These are tricky even for a locksmith to open when they fail. One easy way is to use a thin (1mm) metal cutting disc on an angle grinder. Then buy new mortice rack bolts
