Re: Leaking Grey Pipe Issue Under Sink

Hi, I can't see any pic so this is a guess. Is the pipe about 20mm diameter? It sounds like it may be an old washing machine/dishwasher waste pipe that's been left connected to the plumbing but disconnected from the appliance. In which case, just remove it from the sink plumbing. They are usually a ...

Re: Saddle Valve Fitted but no Water Coming Through?

Saddle valves are designed to work on rigid copper pipe, not PEX plastice pipes. I am guessing it has punctured the pipe, enough for water to leak out when you loosen it but not actually put a proper hole into the pipe. You could try turning off the water supply, removing the saddle valve and checki...

Re: Quick Release Toilet Seat Issues

Is there an allen bolt inside the tiny hole on the side of the fixing? You may need to back that out to release the seat. Alternatively, but from the sound of it you've probably done this already, give it a good tug upwards. Some fittings just rely on a tight push fit over the pan fitting.

Re: What are Chrome Caps for on Either Side of new Toilet?

I assume you are referring to holes close the base of the toilet, in which case they are for the fixings that secure the pan to the floor. The chrome caps hide the screws/bolts once they are fitted.
If you don't secure the pan, it will rock and cause leakage from the waste.

Re: Leaking Basin Tap Connector Hose Pipe After Replacing Tap

You have come across a common problem. Many monobloc taps come with flexible hoses that do not have a compression fitting at the pipe end. The seal is designed to go onto the flat surface of a tap connnector. From your pictures you have attached this to the compression joint on an isolating valve. U...

Re: Building Invoicing for Tools

Did you ask for a detailed invoice? It sounds like that is the case, and he has done just that, listed every detail of the work involved, including tools and materials. Normally the 'labour' part of the job would include an amount towards the tools he has to have to do his job but that amount would ...

Re: Twinslot Shelf Problem With Huge Gap Behind Plasterboard

Use 'hollow wall' fixings. These are inserted through the hole, then use a setting tool to open the cage behind, giving a very secure fastening. Some people don't bother with the setting tool as, if you are careful, you can open the cage by screwing in the bolt. Once that's done, remove the bolt and...
