Worcester Greenstar 30 CDI Classic System

Where can I get suitable pipe insulation for exterior use? I've been told the EA code we're getting on our boiler for a couple of days could be due to freezing in the condensate pipe.

Conceal cracked. burnt damaged worktop

Son-in-law put a hot pan straight off hob onto worktop beside sink causing large cracks in Maia laminate. I'm thinking of covering the area with something heat resistant. Are there any solutions/projects that address this problem?

Shower Tray Repair

I've seen companies that repair cracked shower trays and we have one of those! Is it reliable?

Hot Water Problem Sanity Checks

Any sanity checks I can make before calling service engineer out? Ran out of hot water yesterday. The unvented Indirect Cylinder has primary heating from System Boiler and secondary from element. Neither are heating the water! The CH radiators are still being heated. The programmer is displaying the...

Better Heating Control

We've lived in our house for 33 years and it has expanded through multi extensions. So has the CH but it is still only one heating zone, which post the latest expansion is extremely difficult to manage as far as getting reasonable temperatures in the living rooms and bedrooms. Most rads have TRV's b...

Pipe Freezing Kits

I've posted about reworking pipework by draining the system but I must admit if freezing works it would be much simpler What's the verdict on freezing? Roughly, how long will the frozen plug last in the sort of warm temperatures we have at the moment? I've seen a YouTube video of a home made freezin...

Radiator Flow & Return Pipes Rework

Unfortunately, a new rad has connections that are wider apart, further out from the wall and higher than the old rad. Too much for the existing pipe runs. I'm trying to plan a way forward. For background we have a mains fed System Boiler and an unvented, indirect cylinder. There are 2 drain points i...

Monobloc tap for mains supply

My house has been converted from gravity to mains pressure water supply. The kitchen sink monobloc tap spout is leaking so needs replacing. Do I need to get a replacement suitable for mains pressure or will all taps do?

Installing a Ring Doorbell Pro Without Original Doorbell Present

I'm fitting a Ring Doorbell Pro to our front door but we don't have an existing doorbell or room in the CU for the Ring transformer. As far as the transformer goes I was thinking of mounting it in a 2 way DIN enclosure and positioning it in an out of the way spot near to where I position the doorbel...

Audio Visual Alarm/Lock/Timer on Garden tap

A couple of times recently our garden tap has been left running, after the hose nozzle popped of the hose attached to it, is there any device or alarm that would help us notice the tap was running?

Re: House Supply Earth Loop Impedance High

UK Power sent a crew to follow up their earlier check who disagree with the findings of my electrician and their own engineer who made the first check. Contrary to the first tests they're now saying the problem is not in the supply but in the house wiring. There is an Earth block mounted next to the...

Re: House Supply Earth Loop Impedance High

Thank you for info.
We do know the system is TNS.

It sounds like your bottom line is our domestic wiring electrician should provide a solution? The impression I get is he thinks it's the DNO who should rectify it.

Regards

John

House Supply Earth Loop Impedance High

Hi, After remodelling work on my house the electrician tells me he is unable to issue a certificate because the earth loop impedance of the incoming supply is out of the accepted range. He also checked a neighbour's house and found the same issue so said this meant the problem was off our properties...

Workshop Insulation and Humidity for Working on Temperature Sensitive Projects

I have a garden building built with 150mm thermal blocks rendered on the outside. I want to improve the insulation to make it fit for working on temperature sensitive woodworking projects. Thinking of adding an inner 100mm x 50mm stud wall with 100mm rigid insulation between studs to achieve this. A...
