Re: Additional charges for material price rise

Personally being hard nosed if you have a contract that is it. If the wording is a bit vague that is a mistake. He should have given you an up to date status of the price but frankly when I agree a price that is it no bonus.

Y plan to S plan

Have thought for a while to swap my Y plan to an S plan as the 3 port valve is playing up. I have the 2 port valves so no problem there. My question concerns the need to remove the 3 port valve a fit a copper T piece, mine is done in 28mm. I am wondering could I not leave the body of the 3 port valv...

Re: Peninsular kitchen units

Not sure how that would be effective . They are o nly plastic feet and would not take much lateral force to crack them.

Peninsular kitchen units

Attached are a couple of photos to better show the units concerned. My question revolves around the affixing of said units to the concrete kitchen floor. I have read that one does not need to affix the sheer weight of the setup will be sufficient. On that I am not convinced especially at the end awa...

Brick slips

I am intending using brick slips over a brick wall covered in render.
Can I apply the brick slips directly to the render, if so would it be better to apply a sealant, ie pva first?
Or should I remove the render and affix the slips directly to the brickwork?

Padding out Steel Beam and Replacing old oak Beams

Not 100% sure correct forum but here goes. Am renovating the kitchen and an old oak beam is being replaced by a steel I beam, 2 x pfc bolted together. It is an old 16c property been messed about with and the joists to the first floor shall we say are not exactly uniform. Two of the joists actually t...

Re: Feed and Isolation for Installing a Pair of Ovens

I would be splitting the ovens so each cable from the splitting point only needs 16A capability so a 20A switch is fine.

Re: Feed and Isolation for Installing a Pair of Ovens

Am not sure why you state a cooker connection unit is required. T&E into a DP switch then flexible out to the oven.

Feed and Isolation for Installing a Pair of Ovens

Am about to install two ovens, one above the other. Both are rated at 16A max. Now am wondering about the feed and isolation needs, here are my alternatives, in my opinion. 1 Feed both off a 32A MCB using 2.5mm2 and a single 32A isolation switch by the ovens in the kitchen 2 As above but use 2 seper...

Cable Provided With Neff Induction hob

Have purchased a new Neff induction hob. Total rating of rings is around 15kw but hob self limits itself to 11kw maximum. Probably it will never have to supply11kw at any instant but nevertheless is a possibility that could happen. My question is about the 2 cables provided to connect the hob to sui...

Trimming up Concrete Slab DPM

I have just had a concrete slab laid with a DPM. I would like opinions as to where to trim the DPM at the sides. Hopefully the attached drawing makes it easier to understand. I obviously do not want the DPM to extend past point A or it will be visible. I am uncertain where to cut it between points A...

Re: Concrete Base for a Log Cabin

Interesting you post this hope you are still looking at any replies even though this is the first.

I have just had a 6m x 4m slab laid. 150mm thick with thicker around the edge. Cost was £2k all in using PAV1 concrete.
