from your description i'd say it's in the rads themselves. try adding a cleanser. the only solution is flushing the system out or new rads.

air being drawn in can lead to corrosion problems as the plumber said but it could also be due to the system not being flushed properly when it was new or low quality radiators.

the trouble with these boilers is the standard ex[ansion vessel has a store of hot water in it. you can fit an external one but if the standard one is packing up it's more than likely that the system required an additional vessel in the first place. standard ones only have a capacity of about 6 litr...

maybe it's the boiler pcb faulty running it's anti pump seize mode. some boilers will run the pump every 24 hours if the boiler hasn't operated. if the pcb is faulty it might not recognise that the boiler has been on so operates the pump at the same time every night. i've had this problem on a potte...

unscrew the trv (thermostat) head and see if the spindle is stuck down, if it is you can either give it a hit with a big spanner or get a pair of grips and force it down a few times until it pops up. that's the fault 9 times out of 10.
