Light switches and earth wires

Imagine that I have moved my bedroom light switch. Its old position was mounted in a metal back box and now it’s in a nice plastic dry line back box. A new 1 way switch has been perfectly wired up with live and neutral. The earth wire was connected to the metal back box before but the new plastic on...

Old Thorn EMI Boiler Banging and clanking noises!!!!!!!!!

Can I cut a soil pipe off in the loft space and insert a one way air valve?

I have a plastic soil pipe that goes up through the house and out of the roof and has a open normal vent on top.

Can I cut the pipe off in the loft space and insert a one way air valve?
(making it possiable to remove the roof vent with leaky flashing)

Many Thanks M

Check valves on mixer taps

Do I need to fix a check valve to both hot and cold water supplies on a basin mixer tap?

The reason I ask is because my low pressure hot water probably will not flow if I add a check valve.
cheers

I agree that it must be the most important thing to get right in a bathroom. It also seems to be one of the most confusing areas of work for the DIYer. I recently replaced all the bathroom plumbing for plastic pipes so all taps and so on are supplied by plastic pipe. From what I read this would mean...

Thanks for the info! Just taken a look at the project related to Earth bonding on DIY DOC and it suggests the supplementary earth must be connected to a local earth to the bathroom such as a socket or shower, which creates some questions; Can this earth point be a lighting circuit earth??? (because ...

Hi all, Rosebery said this in the other thread “Electric showers run off mains pressure. Combi boilers run off mains pressure. For pressure, therefore, you should be OK. “ Gasmick Are you saying the above is not correct? Sorry to ask but there seems to be two trains of thought on the same thing! Che...

Combi -condensing boiler and my Shower?

I am considering getting a combi boiler fitted and I hope to take out my electric shower and make use of a shower bath tap mixer. Will any standard combi boiler offer enough water pressure to operate my shower mixer safely and satisfactorily?
