Passing 1.5mm 3 core flex through oven aperture

I need to run the refrigerator supply flex to standard socket but the only way to get the flex to the socket is via the rear of the adjacent oven housing - the length of flex passing thro' is approx 2'. I have covered the flex with a section of metal cable protection - do I need to replace this stan...

Running Cabling for Induction Hob and Oven in Same Conduit?

I need to run separate 6mm T/E and 2.5mm T/E internal cables (for induction hob & oven) from fuse box in garage to kitchen - can these cables go together in white (non oval or circular) conduit, for fixing above skirting board, and, if so, what size & type of conduit? Length of each run appr...

Wiring Two-Way Dimmer Switches With 3rd one way Dummy Dimmer Switch

I have had to replace a two-way dimmer switch within a switch box (in kitchen) containing another two-way dimmer and a one-way dummy dimmer - somehow I have ended up with a wiring problem (my fault!). The dummy dimmer operates under cupboard lights and they switch on/off ok. One of the two way dimme...

No Hot Water From Nearest Hot Tap to old Vaillant Boiler?

I have an old Vaillant combi boiler which is/was working fine. When I turn on kitchen hot tap (nearest tape to the boiler) the boiler does not fire but when I turn on the bathroom basin hot tap it fires and produces hot water. If I then turn on kitchen tap, hot water also comes out. I recently had t...

Re: Central heating/hot water

Hi Stoneboy - just to let u know that had 2 second opinions on the pipework by the Santon cylinder and both independently agreed that the 22mm heating return for most of the downstairs radiators should NOT have been connected so closely to the cylinder primary return but rather it should have been t...

Re: Central heating/hot water

Hi Stoneyboy Yes you are right - the 22mm radiator return flow comes vertically thro' the bottom of the cylinder cupboard and the cylinder return flow is connected higher in the same pipe (about 18"/24" above). As the hot water from the cylinder flows it takes a 'left turn' downwards into ...

Re: Central heating/hot water

Thanks for your interest stoneyboy. Boiler engineer & Plumber have looked at pump & it is operating correctly. Someone suggested that its a 'return flow' problem in that all radiator circuit return flows should be fed back and linked together near the boiler and then teed into the primary re...

Re: Central Heating/Hot water

A belated thanks to stoneyboy - the pump did not have a 'turn-down' & the problem still exists - please see my updated post on 1.11.11 re the same problem. The installer is tearing his hair out! Many thanks

We have just had our house greatly extended (into old roof & over & on the side) together with the existing central heating/hot water system. We now have a new gas boiler with a Santon megaflow water cylinder together with additional radiators. We do not now have any storage/feeder tanks in ...

Hi Sparx - just one more thing (sorry to be a pain but just moved into this house so still finding my way around) As explained, the amplifier installer has spurred into the 2.5 cable which runs from the consumer unit (with yellow 20amp fuse) and ends in a double socket fixed in the airing cupboard. ...

Thank you ericmark & sparx for your help. However, the installation man turned up this morning and, based on your comments, I politely queried attaching a 13amp socket to the lighting circuit. The result was that he went into the loft and said he found a 'radial circuit' (?) supplying the immers...
