Re: 3 questions on switched live

If it is connected to the switch it is not a neutral.

Yes you are correct in saying he should have marked the switch live, it is done with a brown sleeve or tape.

Usually if there is a neutral in a switch it is in a connector block doing nothing, just a loop to the light

Re: Curious journey for a HDMI cable

Hi, that would be fine, there are no regs for that, however I would try & keep it 12" away from any electric cable under the floor boards or in the stud wall, because it might introduce interference. I'm going to do the same thing soon, running a HDMI up to the bedroom so I can watch sky Q ...

That’s normal practice. Good idea. Make sure you use the same size cable.

Re: Stannah 420 Stair Lift Not Working!!

Are you sure that the battery was fitted correctly & is charging. An elderly neighbour has a Stannnah that was not working. I found a red handle and wound the stair lift down a bit and the chair worked on electric power. It goes down to the stop, shuts off and will then respond to the electric s...

Re: New Ceiling Light Fixture - Confirming Wire Locations

I take you are replacing a pendant locket drop.

The 2 reds will have to put in a chock block as this is the loop to the next light.

The black with red sleeve is the switch wire, this goes to L.

The black goes to N.

The earths green & yellow go to E.

Re: Ceiling Rose Does not Have a Live but Only Switched Live

There might be a junction box in the ceiling, if its a bedroom light, go up the loft & have a look, but if it's a downstairs light, have a look if any floorboards have been disturbed in the room above over the light fitting.
