Many thanks for getting back to me. As a layman I always seek to push the wire in as far as possible in the belief that it makes for the best connection.
I removed the light pendant in our lounge for the ceiling to be plastered. When I went to reconnect, the light doesn't work. The light is served by 2 switches and the wiring from the ceiling in my photo is exactly as it was before the light was removed. Grateful for advice please !

Thanks folks - the pattern on the underside of the tiles meant that I couldn't use the 2mm spacers but to be honest, certainly on the floor, the bigger ones look fine.

My son has a mate who's an electrician so he's coming over on the weekend.
Thanks again to you both.
Thanks Blakey - would any of the black cables act as neutrals? I presumed that the clearly connected one was a neutral. If the loose black cable is actually a switch, where should it be conected? I never work with the power on of course so how dangerous would it be to trial and error, eg connect the...

In the kitchen, what I presume to be the origina...

Hello I purchased some rolls of Galerie Simply stripes and have hung it horizontally to create a wider impression in a room. A couple of queries though which Galerie haven't answered on: 1- The paper I bought is brown and cream stripes but when it arrived I noticed a very thin cream stripe which mus...
Hello folks I have a 7 year old house with dry lined walls. The previous owner took out the wall between the kitchen and dining room. A fairly crappy effort was made to reinstate the walls that remained, and a crack continues to appear where he plastered the gap between the kitchen wall and the dini...
Thanks - had it serviced only two weeks ago.
I'll take a reading now and then same time tomorrow and see what the reading is just in case the servicing and replacement of board has improved things
