Re: USB heated electric blanket

USB devices all run at 5v, NOT mains. I have also been reading some reviews of varying USB heated blankets. They all have the same conclusions, they get warm, not hot, often said blankets are small in size, the bigger ones only get warm in a few places, not all over. None of them state wattage, but...

Re: USB heated electric blanket

I am sure it is, but USB is max around 2 amp, at 5 volt, so 10 watt, this is so little heat, only likely to work as a hand warmer. Thanks for your reply. I'm not well up on these matters but if it's a mains plug wouldn't that mean that it's 240v and not 5? But also, wouldn't your answer lead me to ...

USB heated electric blanket

I want to buy a USB heated portable electric blanket to use while watching TV. Is it possible to run this via a mains adaptor with USB ports or are these ports only for charging items with USB connectors? Thanks.

Connecting TV to aerial

When my old TV died some years ago I decided to just watch TV through my PC. Recently someone gave me a TV because they had bought a smart one. I still have the TV aerial on my roof but with only about 2 metres of cable attached, as I cut the rest off. So I'll have to buy a length of aerial cable, c...

Re: Crack in toilet cistern

Hi zacccc Since you have used silicone in the past it's better you stick with the same. Regards S Hi stoneyboy, As I said in my last post, before reading your post I'd already had a reply from someone on another forum. By mistake, in my original post I gave the wrong information. I said that my cis...

Re: Fitting new diaphragm to toilet cistern ball-cock valve

Thanks very much for that concise explanation. As it happens, I've fixed the leak now and I think I did put the valve together in the way you recommend so your input has made me even more confident. Thank you.

Fitting new diaphragm to toilet cistern ball-cock valve

The ball-cock valve in my old toilet cistern is leaking, so I decided to replace the valve and the arm. The plumber's merchant guy suggested I might only need to replace the rubber diaphragm in the valve so that's what I've tried to do but it's still leaking. There are a couple of parts in the valve...

Re: Crack in toilet cistern

Thanks for your reply but before I'd received it I'd already bought and used some CT1 sealant, which isn't silicone based but which I'd been told was better than silicone sealant. I'm just waiting for it to cure. It was £12 from Wickes, so it better work!

Crack in toilet cistern

The ceramic cistern for my toilet has a crack in it (sorry, tried to attach a photo but it was rejected as too large: the crack is from the hole that the down pipe to the toilet bowl goes into and it's a couple of inches long.) Previously I've mended it with No Nonsense clear silicone applied from t...

Re: Does a sanded down internal door need priming?

I already have a solvent based primer and I've been told that that's ok to prime with (which would save me buying another primer), but thank you for your reply.

Does a sanded down internal door need priming?

I've sanded down an internal door and in a few places it's gone down to the bare wood. Do I need to prime these patches of bare wood before painting the door or can I just put on two or three coats of the water-based Dulux QuickDry Satinwood pure brilliant white which I'm using, and which the tin sa...

Sealant for Shed Roofing Felt

I've just refelted my sister's apex shed roof. On one side of it most of the felt had been missing for a while so the wood had deteriorated. The roof needed 3 pieces, one for each side of it and a piece for the apex, which overlapped the other two. I used Black Jack felt roof adhesive. The felt was ...

Re: Putting Heavy Wooden Bed on Castors

But as to "what SWMBO means" if you have managed to get a reliable way to know that then guru or expert would be accurate ;) 0) :-) No guru, mate - I don't currently have a SWMBO, so fathoming meaning is not a problem these days. But from experience, I do know what you're alluding to. :-)

Re: Putting Heavy Wooden Bed on Castors

If they will be any good will depend on the surface you are moving the bed over. They can certainly mark some surfaces badly, and be difficult to move over others. If you get good roller bearing ones they are infinitely better than any glide. By current workbench is over 250kg and is on wheels, eve...
