Drive Cracking around Manhole

I have a manhole cover in the drive and the tarmac is cracking around the edge. How can this be repaired. Is it easy or do I need a proffesional.

It is not too bad at the moment but I imagine if I keep putting the car over it, it will gradually get worse.

Any help gratefull.

Creaking Stairs

We have 3/4 steps on the stairs that creak really bad. Having had a quick look it seems the risers have come loose from the treads. I cannot get access from underneath. House is only 4 years old I moved in 6 months ago. Is this something that should be covered under NHBC?. If not what is the best wa...

No Air Bricks

Have recently moved into a new house built in 2006. Noticed that it does not have any air bricks. Have some plastic inserts in the brickwork under the level of the DPC, are these an alternative?. Have looked at all the other houses on the estate and they are the same with no air bricks. It could be ...

Remvoed Electric Shower - MCB question

I recently had an issue with my electric shower leaking. I isolated the electrics by turning of the MCB for the shower before removing the shower. Not sure of the KW rating of the old shower as it does not state on the shower it could be 7.5 or 8.5kw. Having read various forums about cable size and ...

Air in System - Bubbling Noise on Boiler

Am having an issue when the boiler is set to HW. There is a bubbling noise heard from the boiler. Does not seem to do it when boiler is on CH. Had British Gas in as I have homecare. They advised that there was a lot of air in the system and this was due to the sludge in the pipework. I agree that th...

Driveway Drainage

I have recently had an aco drain fitted to the drive. It was bedded on concreate and the drive re-instated round the drain with tarmac. When it rains some of the rain is soaking into the tarmac and away. It has been a week since the tarmac was laid. The rest of the water does not and stays on top an...

Drainage Firms - Help

Can anyone recommend a good drainage firm in South Yorkshire. I need to have some aco drainage installed and connected to existing FW and SW System. Been quoted anywhere from £400 to £1400 for the work and each firm seems to want to do it a different way. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

Drainage Channel

I have had a quote to install a 6 metre dranage channel at the side of my house. The drain will be either side of the 2 waste pipes and be connected to both to drain off the rain water that currently accumalates at the side of the house. I have been quoted a price of £1325 + Vat and wondered if thi...

Drainage

I cannot raise the level of the drive as the airbricks are on floor level. If I raise the drive (At the house end) this would block off the air bricks. I understand what you say but am not sure this is an option.

Linear Drain (Driveway)

How much should it cost to have a linear drain installed to an existing drive. I have a problem where the driveway that has been installed to the house (Before I bought it) is chanelling the water back to the house. It has been like this for 10 years since the house was built. I presume eventually t...

Air Trapped in CH

Having had boiler noise when DHW was on in the morning a plumber put some Noise Reducer fluid in my F&E tank. This cured the noise issue but where as before there were no issues with the CH, when it is put on now and gets to temperature, air is trapped in the system that you can here being force...
