Some of the black wires are not neutral. Theyre live returns from switches. What youre doing is such a cliche. Youre connecting black (or blue) live wires to the neutral. i'm not a qualified electrician, i'm a plumber, but i would say course you can as long as the circuit breakers are changed to the correct amperage. Wait and see if anyone contradicts me

you need to understand how a two way light works first. then, if you think it out logically, you wont need advice. Its just about understanding the flow of the electricity. I think they have circuit diagrams on here

Sparx is right. One of the blacks goes to the switch. You need to work out which one it is and put red sleeve on it and treat it different from the other blacks

You're lucky it hasn't gone 'bang' yet. If you keep swopping wires over for long enough, it will! Seriously, you need to understand what the wires are first. Unless your wiring is very old and dodgy, the reason why the light dimmed is because you've conncted it in series with the other lighting circ...

Theres different types. Some unscrew like a normal rose. Others have fixing screws that are visible If its not like these, try unscrewing the white plastic ring around the lamp holder. It might all come apart then
