Plumbing in Chrome Radiator

Hi, I am currently plumbing in a decorative Chrome Radiator in living room. Property is 10 years old and original rad had 10mm copper pipe going into rad valves. My new Rad valves require 15mm connection. Because the chrome rad is smaller than the original rad i have to alter the pipework quite a bi...

Under cupboard kitchen lights

Hi, I am having a new kitchen fitted next week and plan to have under cupboard lighting, which I can operate from an independent light switch. What is the simplest way to do this? I am not fussy where the switch is located as long as it’s in a safe place. I’d rather not tap into the lighting cir...

Decorative Chrome radiators

Hi, We recently saw some chrome rads in B&Q and picked a couple up. They are slightly different to the chrome towel tradiators you can buy as they are designed for living rooms etc. When opening the box, It says on the instructions that these rads are not suitable for use on direct central heati...

In the kitchen we have a set of 3 spots and these come on instantly and these have a transformer. The transformer appears correct for the 5 lamps and connections looks good. The 5 original bulbs are 20watt each and they take about 3 seconds to come on. They don’t provide that much brightness. I wo...

Bathroom Spot lights

Hi, recently moved into our new house and there are 5 small neat chrome spots in the bathroom. I have seen them for sale in B&Q so are probably very common. They have a transformer which is mounted in the loft. When i switch the lights on, they take approx 7-10 seconds to come on. The wiring app...

Thanks for the reply sparx,

Could you please explain to me what a double pole isolating switch is and how it would be different from using a normal switch?

Would it be acceptable to carry out the work and have it immediately checked by a qualified leckie?

Cheers

Matt

Thanks for the reply Sparx! I din't think about using the shower cable for a kitchen socket- very good idea. The grey cable is thicker than normal socket cable and i was wondering if it was too powerful for a double socket? If it's not too powerful and can be used, would you simply cross out the ele...

Disconnecting Electic Shower

I have just removed my electric shower, which was operated from a pull down cord in the corner of the bathroom. The cable ran from the back of the shower, over the ceiling joists to the pull-down cord terminal and then another cable runs from the pull-down cord terminal - through the floorboards, do...

Bathroom Extractor Fan

I have recently moved into a house, which is approx 10 years old. I am looking to replace the ceiling mounted bathroom fan, which currently operates from a pull cord in the bathroom. I have purchased a new ceiling mounted fan from B&Q (model number NDX100BC). The current connections into the fan...
