Is there a way for me to check if there's induction?

Re: Light Now Always on After Swapping Fittings?

I don't have the old fitting anymore, it was really old and just disintegrated as I took it off!
What other troubleshooting can I do or best to call an electrician?

Options for Repainting Ceiling Paint That Went Patchy and Peeled off

The paint on my bathroom ceiling started peeling off a while ago; I have managed to remove/peel most of it, but in some spots it's pretty stuck.

What options do I have before repainting it? (I didn't paint it in the first place)?
Can I use a sander to smooth the spots with paint?

Re: New Light Switch Wiring no Earth but old Switches Have Earth

Thank you - Also after reading a bit more - the current switch is metallic so I understand it must be earthed.
The new switch is simple plastic so I can safely earth the metal back box.

Is it sufficient to earth it to the metal back box via the screw from the light switch plate?

Re: Removing Dead Wires and how to do This Safely?

I found the wire at the end!!!! It connects the old door bell which is powered by batteries. I guess when it was installed wireless door bells didn't exist!

New Light Switch Wiring no Earth but old Switches Have Earth

I didn't like the old light switches so I decided to replace them with new simple one to match the rest of the in the house. I thought the job would have been a simple like for like but in old British houses there are always some surprises. The current old light switches also have the earth wire con...

Removing Dead Wires and how to do This Safely?

There is a dead wire that is poking in and out of one wall and I would like some suggestions in what would be the best course to remove it. I tested and it's dead; it's an old house so I am suspecting it used to bring power outside, though the cable outside is cut off and there's another similar wir...

Capping End of Electric Wires After Removing Light

There are some electric wires I'd like to tidy up but I would like some advice before I do so. I have two wires joined by a terminal block powering a light outside. Because I would like to remove the light, it will leave the wires exposed, what's the safest way to cap these wires? Once isolated, the...
