Re: Help With Rawl Plug Removal Questionnaire

Old screw and pliers always does the trick, screw in the screw 2/3 turns then pull. So no I wouldn't waste £6.

You can get mixer showers with adjustable centres. Just need to shop around.

Re: Help With Bleeding a Radiator in a Loft Conversion - Advice Needed

You'll always get air at the highest point of a heating system, if it was a commercial installation it would have Automatic Airvents at this point, you need to find out how the system is filled, as you need to vent the radiator until water appears at the radiator vent - but if you do this without re...

Re: 150 Litre Horizontal Boiler Dropped From 6ft - is it ok?

Entirely up to you, as you don't give the make model it's not possible to give advice on things to check.

If it's a cylinder with electrical connections, I would check for leaks, get an electrician to check electrical components, if they're okay then there's no need to replace.

Re: Use warm air from loft space?

The loft only gets hot on summer days, normally when you want the house to be cooler not warmer?

In the winter when you want heating the loft will be cold. You'd be better spending money on loft insulation to prevent heat rising and escaping through the loft/roof when you have the heating on.

Re: Solar panel to heat hot water cylinder.

The cylinder needs to be one suitable for solar connections, although you might be able to get a heat exchanger to attach to the existing cylinder. Due to the high temperatures involved you cannot connect directly unless the joints are made of silver solder. I'm not sure what you want if you "d...

Re: Low Mains Water Pressure - Installing Combi Boiler to get Good Pressure From Mains for Shower

If you have low water pressure or flow then you'll never get a good shower off a combi boiler. You'd be best going for stored hot water.

Are your neighbours the same? if not try renewing your mains stop tap as there could be a slight blockage or the valve might be jammed.

Re: help with baxi condensing boiler

The noise could also be from the expansion vessel, if the pressure is rising only when the boiler is in use and discharging to outside. Check the Schrader valve on top of the pressure vessel. If there's water the vessel needs replacing, if there's air or nothing then you might be able to re-pressuri...

Re: Using Central Heating Timer for Worcester Greenstar - Advice Needed

You need the instructions for the programmer to use it properly. Basically if you press the select button the light should move from On/Off/Auto/All Day If you set to All Day it'll bring the heating and/or hot water ON at the first On set point and go OFF at the last Off set point. For example if yo...

Re: Hot Water Underfloor Heating - Does the Boiler or Manifold Deal With Temperature?

The manifold should have a mixer valve with 3 ports, it'll circulate itself with it's own pump - mixing the return and flow to get the desired temperature.

Re: Potterton Promax Combi - What is the Best Wireless Thermostat to use?

All comes down to personal choice, there's many out there now from basic mechanical timers to one's you can control from your mobile/computer.

This type will connect straight to the boiler, where the current mechanical timer is.

Re: Worcester 28i RSF PCB and Plate Removal Question

It should just lift off once you have removed the 4 screws, the transformer protrudes through the cover this might be stopping the plate from coming off. The transformer is plugged into the PCB, you may need to press down on the transformer with your thumb as you lift the plate off.

Re: Worcester 24i Junior RSF Combi Boiler Central Heating Problem - Boiler Cuts Out and Fault Light Flashes

There's normally a pattern to the fault light flashing, if you can find the manufacturers instructions it'll have numerous combinations (flashes per second/minute) which should point you in the right direction. Are the radiators or hot water getting hotter than normal? if everything is working as he...

Re: Briston shower valve - how to remove end cap on mixer?

Valves vary depending on make and model, the caps normally do just pop off with the use of a screwdriver or similar, then there'd normally be a retaining nut or screw underneath. Have you tried Googling the make and model to see if you can find the installation/servicing instructions?

Re: How to Identify What's in a Pipe - Unidentified Capped 15mm Copper Pipe

As it is a 'dead leg' the temperature wont change when the heating or hot water are used as there's no flow. It could be a gas pipe, or could be an old redundant pipe that has leaked in the past and been capped off elsewhere. You're right there's no way of a Gas Safe Registered engineer identifying ...
