Message for Sparks outside socket.

Am fitting (theoretically ofcourse ) an outside socket , i have about a 3 metre run from socket to spur off which takes me to inside of wall where socket is going , would you suggest a fused connection unit on inside wall with a connecting cable directly through to outside socket behind it ,Thanks J...

Your main earth and equi cables are generally together in a three , marked with earth symbol, the others now are normally numbered to coincide with neutrals .Sparks may tell you different , he knows best .Regards Jeff

Hi sparks am also wondering about retraining in your field , and have seen the courses available , i had my doubts about the short courses myself but have seen a course ie : 16th edition , 2381 , pat testing and domestic installer , this all told takes about a year , is this in your very knowledgabl...

sparks , thanks for that but it looks like 2.5 mm to me perhaps i am mistaken . My main ? again is , is it legal to have all sockets on one circuit ?

This isn't correct , from your info it sounds like you have a spur running another spur.. Not allowed , one spur per socket , so if your first socket is coming of one in the house , then that is a spur in itself . Question is it a integral garage or seperate?.sparks with more experience might know d...

Hi , I would say in my humble opinion that depending on the cooker output ,then 6mm cable would be enough. Check your wattage of hob . make sure your mcb or fuse is correct .. Oh by the way kitchens and bathroms fall into a special category now , so make sure you are aware of the rules .. Cheers Jeff

Sparks have split all the reds in the socket and found the main live , connected them all to this seperately and worked out which is which , whoever wired this house had a very weird sense of humour . (laugh)

Thanks sparks , i am not quite following your end of reply , i have four live wires in my one socket . Wires into consumer unit is one hence my theory about radial circuit appossed to ring . My main concern before i try to split the up and down is do i have to ? Cheers once again
