Expanding Foam into Gap by Converted French Doors - Will this Affect DPC?

Hi Can anyone please advise regarding expanding foam issue? We have an ants nest in our cavity wall. We’ve got to get rid of that first of course, but then we have to prevent re-infestation. The house is 27 years old, standard construction, with concrete floor and dry lined walls. Some years ago we ...

Laminate flooring: under-worktop washing machine too high

Hi. Just about to start in utility room, laying combi foam underlay & laminate over sound thermoplasic tiles, laid on concrete subfloor. I've just realised this will raise aplliance by 11mm, which is too tight under worktop in corner of room only, as screed was laid a bit high along edge. Is the...

Thanks stoneyboy.

The tiles are the hard type, so I've bought the high performance latex SLC from Wickes as it has good user reviews. I'll prime the old tiles with diluted PVA first.

Levelling concrete sub floor for laminate

I'm going to fit B&Q tile-loc laminate in my kitchen. House built 1989, existing flooring is original thermoplastic tiles stuck onto concrete sub floor, still well stuck down so no probs there. Planning to use combi foam/dpc underlay, and sealant in board joints. But I've measured uneveness of 3...

Engineered board: problem in doorway

Hi there I'm laying 14mm engineered wood board over concrete, with d/p membrane & fibre board underlay, in 2 adjoining rooms, layed lengthways through door. Finished 1 room, worked out OK, but 1 prob. In the doorway between rooms, the board is bowed up slightly in centre of doorway due to slight...

rusty radiator

Yo All We're having a combi boiler fitted shortly, with new pump & filter, replacing a 20 year old Flamingo2 that came with house when new. Old system seems OK, but one rad on ground floor has surface rust on bottom. Is it OK to treat rust and re-paint, or is there danger of leak?Should we have ...

Wood flooring; concrete floor levelling

G'Day all I'm laying engineered wood flooring over concrete subfloor, 20 years old, using 7mm underlay boards & d/p membrane. Room size 5.5m x 3.5m. Trouble is, the floor has a slight "domed" profile; the edges are about 1cm lower than the centre. For a DIY bloke like me, what's the si...

Do the suppliers of the tile effect laminate supply a matching trim bead? If so, perhaps this could be stuck to the base of your tiled wall with a suitable moisture resistant adhesive. I think that would look quite neat. If not, try and match the bead colour to your tiles.

Good luck

Engineered Board: Fit bead or raise skirting?

G'Day All First time post. This question has been touched on before, but would appreciate more detailed answer. I'm a DIYer, about to lay 14mm eng. board & 7mm u/lay board & d/p membrane over concrete. A lot of pros recommend removing skirting board, & cutting slice from base of door fra...
