Hi stansfanclub,
What you describe would appear to be inadequate support for 6 ft panels, suggest you fit concrete spurs next to the wood ones.

Hi danz01,
Given what you are trying to achieve you may be best hiring a diamond core bit and drill so you can set a sleeve in the concrete of a suitable size for your pole. Rotary airers usually come with a suitable sleeve.

Hi granto1986,
It’s difficult to imagine that the bricks are anything more than you suggest - a means of isolating the loft space from the facia area, Suggest you knock a couple off and see if there is anything structural involved.

Hi nubidiyer,
You have cast iron hoppers feeding into plastic downpipe. Scrape the loose paint off the hoppers, wire brush them then apply a couple of coats of Hammerite. Alternatively replace the hoppers with plastic ones - especially the one with three waste pipes feeding into it.

Hi dandies,
Failure of the thermostat is the most likely problem. If you didn’t last time can only suggest that you use an approved Worcester Bosch engineer to identify the problem and fix it this time round.

Hi epax,
I suspect he is proposing extending the vent pipe into the water level - yes this may create further problems with the system continuously pumping hot water through the cold feed tank. You could try his proposal but check the tank regularly - they are not designed for hot water.

Hi autistic trying, Yes you will need wall plugs and a masonry drill probably both 6mm. Drill into the wall, the first bit will be easy so this will be the depth of the plaster, you will then need to drill a further 25-30mm into the bricks. When you remove the drill you will then be able to size the...
Hi apprentice, If the manufacturer of the washer/dryer states it is suitable for installation in a bathroom and once fitted it will be beyond zone 2 ie more than 600mm away from a shower, bath or basin you should be ok. If there is no manufacturers bathroom ok the machine will then have to be more t...
Hi funkydad, If the door was painted by the Barret tradesmen then you should be able to repaint it with one of the metal paints but do use a fine wire wool on the door so as to give a key. Since it is a metal door it’s more likely to be a factory applied finish and in this case you may have to use c...
Hi casualdiy, Yes it would be best to leave any repairs until the summer, sand the surface then apply wet rot wood hardener. Once this has set you can then repaint. Once the paint has dried/cured I would suggest you apply a small bead of silicone mastic to the wood-glass join so that if you get cond...
Hi vaultsman,
It would be best to use a decoupling membrane but it is essential to check whether there is an effective DPM below the wood block floor. If there are any defects damp will build up below the membrane and the wood blocks will swell.

Hi girlie26, If the chimney is not used and you have no plans to reinstate it, it’s best to remove it. I would be very wary of a contractor who is prepared to carry out chimney works from a ladder. For these reasons I would suggest contractor A but whichever one you choose check they have public lia...
Hi jonlondone17,
You could buy a length of upvc capping board and fit this on top of the existing cill. You will have to do some careful cutting and the front edge will have a corner rather than a rounded edge. Use silicone mastic to hide the join and to stick the cover board down.
