Topic: Plastic or Copper Pipes?

More and more new builds go for plastic. its easier to install (very few joins needed) and it can be pulled through holes /ducts/ corners easily. copper is getting more n more expensive . With plastic you need to be very careful with its fittings / isensrts to ensure water tightness.

protective channelling is cheaper and the option id go for particularly if youve got loads to do. As previously stated conduit will allow you to pull/feed cable(s) through it in the future. But what are the chances of that being necessary ?

wHEN starting up wot ? The boiler ? Probably not a problem when using the cold taps. A good fitter I would expect to be able to find this problem.
Check out pages on 'WATER HAMMER' thats wot it sounds like to me if not try 'incorrect use of pumps'.

QUITE ALOT Is this a project you are to DIY or is it a plumbers job?. If you move a rad, the circuit (of pipes) has to be adjusted in order to keep it complete, and meet the new rads. This will obviously mean getting the floorboards up for reconnecting / adjusting / extending the copper piping. Howe...

I don't know what type of system you have but if your house is '2006' you should almost certainly have an efficient system. 19 degrees sounds fine - it shoulld be quite comfortable. I 'm happy to have mine on 17 degrees but rarely open ant windows. Do you have heating on overnight - it isn't necessa...

My system does this too - you havent said what type of boiler it is but it sounds similar. There are any systems and different ways these days and its difficult to diagnose - but - It seems to me the boilerr still heats water even when the cylinder (for CH & HW) is swicthed off because thats its...

This may be stating the obvious but hey. I had a Honeywell and it had 3 settings. CH - HW - or BOTH. If yours is like this I assume you've got it set to both. As the heating works when the heating isnt on it sounds like a fault on the timer.
PS Why not turn the heating off when youre in bed ?

Each situation varies, all depends on the positioning of the sinks waste pipe and the other waste pipes going away from your WC. As per other post it needs to be looked at to tell which route to take to join the existing wastes. Generally in older houses wastes tended to go outside asap before going...

You have not said whether you have gas heated hot water as well as the immersion, if so what type of system is it ? If you do have gas I would strongly recommend using it and only use your immersion for 'breakdowns' - as its far cheaper than putting the immersion on overnight. If you fitted a new el...

You say the problem is identical to your old boiler problem. So is the boiler really the problem or could it be something else. As it's a new boiler its worth checking the operation requirements with regards to minimum water flow pressure - should state in manufarturers specifications. Many of these...

the wires that you have taped off are the links to the previous and next lights in your lighting circuit. As they are no longer linked the light in the next room is no longer linked and wont work.

To get the gas board to fit a gas supply to your house will be expensive. To move onto the Economy 7 tariff will cost nothing, but to wire up and install the storage heaters will cost you a bit. I have used Economy 7 storage heaters and I thought they were fine - but not as good as gas ctl htg. As y...
