Re: Adding 3 outside installations from House

You cannot do this if you are not a competent electrician.
There are laws in the building regs to stop people doing this. It is called Part P
I afraid your going to have to get a spark to do this for you
See below…….

Re: Add a 1-way switch using the existing power from a 2-way switch

You need to take power from a light fitting/lighting circuit
The switch has no neutral.
A new cable needs to come from a live & neutral in a light fitting to the new light fitting, then down the wall(channel out the wall or fit trunking) to the switch

Re: Issue with 3 ceiling lights contolled by 2 switches

Hi looks like you have put a permanent live into the switched live. looking at the 3rd pic, remove the red live cable on its own & put it in with the centre 2, so you have 3 reds in the centre. these reds are the live loop & the feed to the switch. the black left on it's own should have red ...

Re: Ceiling light not wired correctly

Move the black wire with red sleeve from N to L ( this is the switch wire)

Move the 3 reds together to the spare block on their own(this is the live loop to the next light)

Move the 3 blacks to the N block(these are the Neutrals)

Re: New loft light - quick check of wiring diagram please!

I would try not to use splitters, cable joiners & junction boxes etc, your just introducing areas for faults. Your sketch is ok, however I would connect the new feed to the switch from the light fitting, then run a cable to the first light then a cable to the second. I was always taught to have ...

Re: 2 way 2 gang switch circuit issue as lights wont come on at same time

Are you sure there isn't a pull cord switch somewhere, or a switch in a corner that has been built over it.
Those 3 core cables have got to go to another switch somewhere.

Re: 2 way 2 gang switch circuit issue as lights wont come on at same time

Is this just 2 way switching, by the sound of your description, it looks like a centre switch out of three (intermediate switch) As there is no live switch wires(red & black) if that is the case, you will have to look at the other switches where the cable ends are & connect the cables the sa...

Re: Ceiling rose reinstall; red sleeve on yellow wire?

The yellow may be from a 3 core cable going to a extractor fan, there will be a permanent live, a switched live & a neutral going to a fan.

The black switch wire will be for the lamp

Re: New light fittings in sitting room tripping electrics

When you fitted the G9 lamps to the light fitting, did you touch them with your fingers. These are halogen lamps, they will possibly overheat from the moisture from your skin. Need to be held with a glove or tissue paper.
