hi k. brownie to be totaly honest with you ive not realy looked in to over boarding as i thought it would be more cost affective just to do the bad half as it would only take 3 or so boards to do the above. but if iam being honest with myself i want to avoid over boarding the whole celing as i would...

hi all i have just had a bad leak from my loft , and has ruined half my bedroom celing. the thing is the good half of the celing is painted with textured paint , so my point is i will pull down the bad half of the celing , re-board the damaged area and re skim the hole celing, But by doing this will...

repairing hole in celing

i am about to repair , or try to repair a hole in my plasterboard celing, but i am a little lost as to how i can do this. correct me if i am wrong but i was under the impression that when i cut back to the celling joists and place a new board in... it should lie back 2 or 3mm to allow for the finish...

tips on skiming over angle beads

can anybody give me some help or tips when skiming over angle beads, everytime i try this my walls curve in at both corners . so what i do is i try adding more mix and to try to compleatly cover the beads. but as i try this , and the more i mess , i start to get bubbles and this is due to over trowl...

a freind of mine has just brought a house close to me ,the strange thing is 2 of his interier walls look like they have been rendered inside . the fact is a large patch on the wall looks like its about to fall off. if we pull down the large ugly patch can we use a bonding coat over the affected area...

hi all just wondering how to tackle this one , my mother has just moved into a bungalow with a conservatory , the one wall of the conservatory has artex on it which my mom hate's . Does the artex have to be removed to skim , or can you just board over then skim . or even use a backing coat/browning ...

hi all can someone tell me where iam going wrong with my skiming. i have just re-skimed a wall in my house and albeit it looked fine when wet it dried up and had a lot of blemishes on the wall . so what i thought i would give it a second coat and it came out the same way . the best way i can describ...

hi mrg i have had this problem myself , there could be a number of reasons as to why this has happend. so iam told. 1st, it could be that the the wall is dirty , if so i was told before you apply finish you should clean the wall with sugar soap then skim . 2nd , all plaster has a shelf life of aroud...
