I think your asking a bit too much of your plumber. We did have the similar problem on a job last year. But we where lucky, the customer asked for the floor to be tiled and was happy for us to raze the bathroom floor by about 4-5 inches to hide the pipe work. We just got our carpenters to put the ne...

I think all you need is a cheap 500-watt electric panel heater.

I don’t see the need for anything more.

You could go mad and fit something that is duel fuel but I don’t see the point.

Well you should fit trv’s on the return pipe for the simple reason that hot water pipes could affect the temp sensor on the trv. But I wouldn’t worry about it. The system will be ok and work. I can’t see it causing any problems; your trv may turn off before the right temp, so just turn it up a...

On a combi boiler you need to have one radiator on all the time, normally the one in the bathroom. This radiator should have a reduced flow, its only there to stop the boiler over heating if all the radiators are turn off. I think this radiator is has its valves open too much, and you need to turn i...

Get a cheap pair of taps for about £15 and pop them on the downstairs sink.

See what thats like.

I think this just a case of an tap jaming up with time.

I am sure its not your water supply.

Thank God for building regs !!! Every drain on the estate had to be replaced after they all became â€...

You don’t need to change the drive level.

Linear drains are basically a 4-6 inch box design; the gradient is not that much depending on the length of your run.

All you need to is find some way of rising the internal drain gradient away from the house.

Oh God this brings back memories You find 3-inch pipe in use mostly in the Middle East, do remember seeing it being used on a kibbutz in Israel in my hippy days. In the UK you need to replace it, you are never going to get connector to fit it to a new toilet. If you did it would block every five mins.

It sounds like that nasty white stuff.

It’s a sod to deal with.

You do find it in older homes, mostly post war.

Flexible fitting is the right way to go.

Cutting this kind of pipe is always a problem due to there crumbling.

Last time I use a concrete saw on one and it work ok.

I am sure you are over “thinking “ this problem. If a pump fails or cause problems within the first 72 hours, it’s a manufacturing error. Not an installing error. It doesn’t happen that often, but it does happen. I have done the same myself a few times, spent hours trying to find a fault, wh...

My gut feeling is that it’s a faulty pump unit.

Ring the makers help line and ask them about it.

Most new build home have an internal soil pipe, there ok and work. There no reason why you can’t box it in, after a flew weeks you will forget it there. Your drains backing up does worry me, you should talk to your water company about this. You should get a full drain survey done before you make a...

Digging is never cheap, and the quote seems about right. I would have a look at your local trading standards web site and get a few more quotes first. But I have a feeling you can fix this without doing all this work. If the drain is not carrying household waste or sewage, the simple thing to would ...
