Using Heavy Duty Rubble Sacks as Home Made Grout Bag

Hello, I need to re-point a section of wall in the next couple of days and I want to do this using a grout bag (as I've done this in the past with success). The problem is none of the DIY stores in my area stock them so I'll have to order one on line but this will take around 5 days for delivery. So...

Self Leveling Floor Compound fthat can be used on Floor Boards?

Hello, Is there a self-levelling floor compound which can be used on floorboards? I need to level my bathroom floor which is floorboards with a lino over the top. Can you get external self levelling floor compound?

Hello,

Is there a self levelling floor compound which can be used outside? I'm in the process of concreting a section of my garden which is very uneven and was wondering if I could concrete it then use a self levelling compound to finish it off.
Thanks

Increasing the Strength of Ceiling Joists by Adding Timbers on Top?

Hello, I am in the process of buying a house and will be looking at converting the attic to a storage/playroom but think I will have to re-enforce the ceiling joist to handle the weight. I understand that this can be done by sistering the joists but was wondering if I could simply increase the depth...

How to Improve Support for Retained Chimney Stack?

Hello,

I've had a survey carried out on a house I'm buying and it states 'improved support required for retained chimney stack in roof space above middle bedroom'.

Can someone advise how this can be achieved?

Thanks

Re-inforcing Joists for Storage Space in the Loft

Hello, My friend has just moved into his new house and wants to convert his attic into a storage space/playroom. The joists are 3x2 spaced at 350mm and span 24ft so I'm sure he'll have to strengthen/enforce them. Would it be simply a case of sistering the joists by bolting another to the side of eac...

Joist Position for new Staircase into Loft Area From Landing

Hello, I want to install a straight staircase from my upstairs landing into my attic. I want to position the stairs against the wall but the joists in the attic run in same direction as the stairs. Therefore there is a joist running flat against the wall I want to fix the stairs to. Do you know how ...
