2. The cistern must sit at 90 degree's to the pan ,you could look for distortions on the pan /cistern to

Hi a simple answer is yes , a few thin coats is best , and don't sand it as this will break the surface of the knotting and you'll be back to square one

Hi yes it can be a bugger to get off , try wetting it before u use the steamer on it that will help and after its been soaking for a bit there is a tool that will put holes in it , hell i don't know whats called but its magic then use the steamer .

Hi 1 Wash the walls down make sure there no wee bits stuck and all old paste is removed , if the walls are in good condition fill a light sand and repaint 2/3 coats of emulsion. 2 If the walls are in poor condition fill light sand then line with lining paper, then allow to dry and emulsion. Hi Yes i can see your problem there , you could skim it over with a fine surface using a wide knife [you will need a degree of skill to do this ] a light sand , then line with Wallrock depending on the extent of the brush marks you just might away with Wallrock on its own , then redecorate as u wish...

Hi Your tank seems to me to be a header tank , used to top up a heating system either now or at some time in the past , take care not to remove it untill you have checked that its not connected to any thing , or you just might be in a to say . a bit of bother there Hope this has helped you

Think the best you could use is a diamond blade on a grinder say 4'' will do the job , then polish with
carbrundum paper to a smooth finish .

HI
You can use metal lathing or chicken wire nailed to the ply bond it "pva" and skim , wood expands at a diffrent rate from plaster so you may get slight cracking .

New plaster will not need pva prior to skimmimg
And as for your artex might be a good idea to bond that, just to stablise any loose or defective areas .
