See where the arm pivots at the valve, just above the pivot you should see a plastic screw which when turned changes when the plunger is closed so closing the valve

It is unlikely taht the pump vibrations have caused the leaks. most likey be bad joints. how did u cut the pipe? have u used pipe inserts?

I think your valve need a service. You can get seal kits for most valves. Most valves can be dissmantled quiet easily, cleaned & seals replaced

the new mixer need to be of a type suitable for your hot water system. Many now are universal but not all

ie if u have a combi boiler or system boiler, is your water pressure low or high.

Look at valve spec and it will say what systems it is suitable for. As i say most are for ALL systems

a sand and cement base is the normal way to level it. Dont just pack the low end. the try need to be supported over most of its base or it will flex and break the seal to the screen

its fine to do as yu say but 1 consideration is if the bath drains fast it may try to pull the water seal from the basin trap. It may gurgle. If it does you can fit an anti vac trap to the basin

A Towel warmer is just a fancy radiator. all rads should have a lockshield valve to prevent accidental changes therefor an unbalenced system
