Hi jonlondone17,
You could buy a length of upvc capping board and fit this on top of the existing cill. You will have to do some careful cutting and the front edge will have a corner rather than a rounded edge. Use silicone mastic to hide the join and to stick the cover board down.

Sorry I should have called them zip cable ties - if you can find them use ones that are about 7mm wide.

Fix tight to the wall using large zip clips - screw the clip onto the wall and zip!

Hi stronach, From experience your chances of getting the cartridge undone are slim - it’s probably naturally welded with limescale in the housing. It looks like scrim has not been used when the plastering was done, probably the easiest solution would be to fit coving.

Probably best to stick with oiling in the spring, if you try a different coating it may not adhere.

Hi monty246,
I suggest you use a water based clear sealer, this will bond into the slabs much better than a solvent based one. You may need to apply two coats and it will need redoing every year.

Provided the joists are not spanning more than 4 metres or thereabouts you will only need to get plates fitted either side of the joists to support the new floorboards.

Small tiles will make the area appear bigger and if the area outside your front door is enclosed, they will be easier to lay. If you are tiling an external area go for pavers which will have an unglazed finish so will be safer in the wet than a glazed floor tile.

Hi lukej, Yes you can fit the pump so all hot water is pump fed, the problem may be that one pump may not be able to maintain sufficient pressure if both showers are running at the same time. To explain, generally a 2 bar pump will give 2 bar if there is no flow, if the flow is 10 litres per minute ...

The data sheet for the silicone does not recommend its use with polyethylene or polypropylene materials so it may be there has been a reaction to the acetic acid released during curing. You could try again and use a neutral curing silicone.
