Re: Infra Red Lamp With 250 Watts Rating - Some Advice Needed

The worst that can happen is a fire, you should go to the supplier of the lamp and task them with suggesting a suitable socket. You must not use this lamp in an ordinary domestic light fitting.

Re: Cutting a Floating Wooden Floor Without Damage to the Plywood Underneath - How Best to do This?

You should buy a plunge cutting multi-tool. This will cut neatly into the corners, won't make much mess, and will become the new favourite tool in your toolbox. I have two, both Bosch, a 10.8v with rechargeable lithium ion battery and a 240v mains connected version. They are also available from Worx...

You cannot do this yourself unless you are qualified to certify it safe. That's the law. Save yourself grief and get a qualified leccy to do this job.

Re: How To Repair A Worx Handicut Tool? - Help Needed

I'm afraid that you are going to have to man up and replace the tool. The cheaper multi-tools like the Worx are not rated for prolonged continuous use. You might still be able to buy a cheap replacement from your local ALDI, they had a unit for less than £30 last week and may still have some in stoc...

Re: New Kitchen Mixer Tap Problem Using Flexi Hose Connector

I've seen this problem before when fitting a kitchen. In fact, I've seen it several times. The first time, it took me until nearly 8pm one day at a customer's house trying to figure out what was happening. Esentially, you have a faulty tap. There is a fault in the casting that is allowing the water...

Re: Fixing a DVD Rack To The Wall Horizontally

Need a bit more information. What kind of wall is it? Solid or drywall? Mirror plates are useful in this type of situation, fix three or four along the top edge of the back of the unit, making sure that you are fixing into the carcase, then fix into the wall. If it's drywall see if you can find the ...

Re: Roof Vent - Does It Need Repairing Or Is It Ok To Leave As Is?

It looks like several tiles and the vent were dislodged in a storm. You ought to attend to this. Your local roofer will be able to reseat the tiles and make sure that the flashing is ok. Best not to leave it, water damage would be alot more expensive to fix.

Re: New Kitchen Mixer Tap Problem Using Flexi Hose Connector

The overflow problem could be coincidental but you might have disturbed a foreign body during the work and it could be lodged in the ballcock valve. An simple check you can perform is to manually open the valve wide by pushing down on the float then release. This will frequently dislodge debris whic...

Re: Polished Porcelain Tiles, Grouting, Sealing And Wax Coating Removal

Don't remove the wax coating until you have grouted. Waterproof grout sets very hard and sticks so well it's very hard to remove grout stains. If you have left the wax on, it will be much easier to remove the grout stains. Once you have done this you can then apply the sealer by following the instru...

Re: New Kitchen Mixer Tap Problem Using Flexi Hose Connector

Did you take care not to twist the flexible tap connector? There is a soft rubber tube inside the braided outer which can easily be twisted which causes it to collapse and restrict the flow of water.

Re: AEG Built In Fridge Freezer Leaking

It's quite possibly the result of condensation of moisture on the cold underneath surface. Kitchens are warm moist places and that moisture all has to go somewhere. It will condense on the coldest surface in the room.

Re: Decking Frame Plan Is Design Sufficient?

Are you using 2x8 or 2x6 framing timbers, I would recommend 2x8 (195x45), and 450mm centres, to stop the decking from flexing too much. Joist hangers will also make for a stronger structure and you won't need so many dwangs. One every metre or so would be sufficient. Hope this helps

Re: How To Remove And Replace A Door Handle

If there is no grub screw in the narrow waisted part of the handle, it is all one unit and can be removed by taking out the screws around the edge of the flange. They look to be somewhat damaged by previous work so I would advise you to replace the screws as a matter of course

Re: How To Stop Toilet Seat Slipping

Use a smear of CT1 between the soft washer and the china. It is a multipurpose adhesive and sealer which I buy from my local buildbase.
