Hi Lesley
If you have a water tank in the loft I expect the ball valve to this tank is causing the problem. Sounds like your basin cold tap in bathroom is connected to the main supply which explains why this tap and your kitchen one are both working and all other taps are not.

Hi
Have you checked it is not just something simple like bending the float arm down just a touch to lower the water level? Just wondered.

Hi Helen
You really need to post a photo as it is difficult to understand exactly what the problem is otherwise and you may get wrong advice.

Hi
The best option I can think of is to run the waste pipe from the shower alongside the soil pipe until it exits the building. Then connect the shower waste pipe to just below the soil pipe branch.

Hi Helen Is this the stopcock which turns off the water supply to the cistern which you are talking about? If so this is not a tap in plumber speak, it is a stopcock and if it is playing up you can get new ones fairly cheaply at places like Wickes. Might be worth thinking of, as removing the body wo...

Hi I am not familiar with this particular tap but if there are no markings or instructions indicating otherwise I would presume the connections are interchangeable, which is usually the case. As a rule plumbers connect hot to the left and cold to the right facing the tap after it has been placed in ...

Hi Barry
The soil pipe should be vented where it exits the outside wall adjacent to the room containing the WC.

Hi
There is a strong chance you have a leak in the underground water main before it enters your property. Your water company will almost certainly investigate for you if you ask but you may have to hire your own plumber to fix the problem.

Hi Try the simple things first. Bleed the radiator, if this doesn't work take the top off the TRV by unscrewing the knurled nut just under the thermostat asssembly. You don't have to turn any water off and it should come off fairly easily without any tools. If not carefully remove using a suitable s...

I would go along with Skids on this one considering there is tiling involved as well. Would be interesting if you could let us know the end result.

Hi
I would think the most likely problem is that your mains stopcock has a loose washer. This means the stopcock body has to be removed to check and repair. Unless you know what you are doing you should get a reputable plumber. It is not a major job.

Hi Alison
Check the washer in the bathroom tap. Apart from that I cannot think of anything which may be causing the problem.

Hi KHE,
The Doctor could be right but sometimes sink traps do smell a bit. Try taking the trap off and cleaning it up and a regular dose of Domestos tipped down the sink and left for some time before running any water through works wonders.

Hi AC, Not a great job, I'm afraid. The burn marks being in two places shows it is not just an accident, but poor workmanship. The pipes to the wastes and supplies to taps could have been run much tidier and the waste pipes look as though they have backfall in a couple of places. By all means let th...
